I'm glad it was renewed despite the ratings. Any show with Howlin' Wolf in it is a keeper.

I'm thinking this might fall into the same category as Treme for me, which is a show I felt was extremely well made all around, and I enjoy, but don't love . I know we're only 3 episodes in, but I would have rather had more Boardwalk Empire tbh. I'm definitely going to keep watching and hoping it can go from just good to great. Max Casella was cracking me up in this one though.

I felt like in this episode, everyone else was more interesting than Richie. I think they used Alice Cooper very well in this episode and they might as well have titled it: Everybody Hates Richie.

Great to see David Proval turn up as Richie's dad at the end there. I miss Birgitte though. That's two eps. in a row now without her.

I'm still so thrown off by Ray Romano saying "fuck."
This episode has a lot of great quotes, and quite possibly the worst marriage counseling session I've ever seen.

This is so different then what I'm used to.

This is so different then what I'm used to. Ray Romano has done some terrific dramatic work. He is almost unrecognizable on this show...but he did some great work on Parenthood and Men of A Certain Age (which was cancelled way too soon).

Again with the lack of Birgitte. Still a good episode as before. I knew those cops would be bugging his office those sly dogs. The younger of whom is a cokehead too so I guess they can't arrest Richie for that. The bit with the band having to fire their guitarist and not wanting to face him when they did so, is very true to life. In fact when the Beatles fired their first drummer Pete Best they got Brian Epstein (their manager) to do it and never saw him again. And there are dozens of other comparable cases of labels and producers cutting personnel from bands like that and the band members folding to those demands to survive. So I felt bad for that poor sonofabitch. And of course Juno and Olivia as always are

Probably the best since the premiere for me. More David Proval was good, and that Olivia Wilde dance scene was ridiculously hot. I enjoyed the annoying A&R guy being brought down a peg too. Although I kind of liked his renaissance fair band.

Devon dancing with Hannibal though. I felt awkward just watching Richie watch that.

Devon dancing with Hannibal though. I felt awkward just watching Richie watch that. I did too. But she and Hannibal had some mad chemistry. Olivia Wilde is doing a great job as Devon. Hannibal basically stringing Ritchie along...I actually kind of felt bad for Ritchie. And next week, we meet the show's version of David Bowie. Hope they make as good of plot use with him as they did with Alice Cooper and Andy Warhol.

I knew it. I knew that guy had to have been in Richie's imagination. *pats self on back*
But holy shit the amount of coke snorted in that episode.

He was really good in this episode too. Nice nod to Bowie at the end there too. I figured out the Ernst twist because he looked the exact same he did in that late 60s flashback we first saw him in, still with his Brian Jones style hair while everyone else in the current timeline kind of looked more 70s. Also I don't think anyone Richie was talking too noticed him throughout the episode and he kept leaving rooms and returning weirdly. But even guessing he was dead beforehand didn't diminish the ending where he suddenly had his wound and then we saw the crash. That was the best ending to an episode the show's done yet.
Great to have Birgitte back too. And Bowie of course.

Oddly enough the terrible HBO show Girls (yeah I hate-watch it don't give me any shit ) also had a cover of Life on Mars last night. Quite a coincidence for back to back shows on the same channel.

Or you could just say you Jemima Kirke-watch it. I'd accept that. But yeah, the AV Club pointed that out in their Vinyl review. Between that and GoT's Heroes trailer, I guess someone on HBO really likes Bowie.

I didn't even think about the way he looked in regards to him being real, I just kept noticing no one was really addressing him. Especially in the scene with Jamie where she looked at Richie like he was crazy when he made the "then it starts" comment.
