Don't we need a thread for something so significant that may or may not happen. (If there is a thread, please delete Fire and Blood/Sati) This is a great thread here for hints of a comeback: www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/39wwt3/spoilers_all_hints_towards_a_certain_comeback/I find it curious that Kit Harington says "I'm dead, not coming back", but Charles Dance came back for his funeral, didn't he? At Castle Black, don't they have to wrap up him being dead or not dead right when the season starts? And if the body is missing/stolen, doesn't that prelude to something going on behind the scenes? I think it's obvious he's lying.

I'm really disappointed that he said "I'm not coming back."
Obviously next season has to start where this one left unlike previous seasons. Because we had so many cliffhangers. FTW, Winterfell, Dorne...
He should've said: "I'm back to portray my dead body."

If he said, I might come in the opener to play a corpse and that's a wrap. But he said "I'm out of the show". - how does that make any sense unless they build a dummie?

They can't hide him, so maybe he really isn't coming back.

They can't hide him, so maybe he really isn't coming back. Even if Jon Snow would be really dead, they would need Kit to play his corpse.

Yeah, I think they'll use the "he's coming back to play his corpse" excuse as a get out of jail free card for having him a) on the set and b) credited as main cast.

If he's seen multiple times though that would be a problem. How many Charles Dance sightings were there? It should take 1 day to shoot if he's really dead.

Jaqen did it without going noticed.

Jaqen did it without going noticed. True, but I don't think we should be comparing the 2 here. Tom wasn't in Season 4 and Kit is just coming off a death scene. I think people are going to be way more purposeful in trying to find Kit.

If so, Kit might be right about an extended vacation. Maybe he'll get little or no scenes until the end of the season.

Jon could stay dead for a season. The resurrection could involve changing actors. Jon's soul takes over somebody else's body.

Probably yes for Jon being out for a season. Nooo to changing the actor!

I think it will be just like Berric's resurrection, Melisandre will say a few words to put him to rest and suddenly, there he is. No warging Ghost. But is very possible he will be absent for a few episodes, to suddenly reappear. Maybe the resurrection scene will be a flashback.

Jon could stay dead for a season. The resurrection could involve changing actors. Jon's soul takes over somebody else's body. Changing actors would be terrible and wouldn't match the previous resurrections from the show (Beric and Wights) or the books (LSH, Beric and the Wights)

He's going to be back next season, I agree they should have just said he'd portray his dead body.
Plus why hype the R + L = J earlier this season if Jon's not going to live to find out?

Changing actors would be terrible and wouldn't match the previous resurrections from the show (Beric and Wights) or the books (LSH, Beric and the Wights) I agree it would be very strange to go that route, but I think it should be considered as a possibility, especially in light of Kit claiming to be done with the show now. Between people-warging, Coldhands, the strange things the White Walkers are capable of, and Melissandre's glamours, there seems to me to be scope in the universe for Jon to undergo a radical transformation. I think Jon going dormant is more likely, but was just putting the other thing on the table.

What if they have already filmed his resurrection scene? Carice said that Kit was the best kisser in the show, but Mel and Jon never kissed.
