D&D said it was George's idea to burn Shireen, did he not? D&D also said that they give GRRM the outlines of every episode and he provides his feedback. I think he's still very involved with the show. I get the Stannis love, but I also think he was a better character in the show (until Shireen). He was a complete dick as a husband and father in the books and went around telling people "Ned Stark, was no friend of mine!". Losing him was a blow, but not as much as losing Robb/Catelyn IMO. Forgive me but until I hear from George or read in the books that Stannis burns her in the books I don't care what these clowns are saying

Don't forget how he let the man who raised him be humiliated in front of his entire court. That was in his introduction chapter for godssake.

But going back to Riverlands I'm gonna change my strategy and assume that if there isn't LS forshadowing since ep.4 or something she is not in. No last hope no buildup show up in finale hope again.

I was watching some Blackfish scenes (getting quite hyped to be honest) then this scene came up, oh how I miss Catelyn. I can't wait for the Blackfish to tear the Freys down.

Come on. This is unfair. Everyone would be dick husband if they were married to Selyse.

I don't have a lot to add to the debate other than I do hope we'll get some resolution to a lot of the stories left hanging in this area for season 6. It's hopeful with the casting we've heard so far indicating Meribald and Euron - plus Oldtown and Tarly were mentioned. I would love to see BWB return and Jaime do as he did in the book to resolve the Frey/Tully/Riverrun siege as part of his redemption arc which has gotten lost on the show.

How could he? They're nowhere near each other. Mel and Selyse will surely burn Shireen, but I doubt Stannis will have any say in that.

Like people were saying, if Stannis is the one that burns Shireen, he has to defeat the Boltons first. So one way or another, D&D fucked with Stannis.

Yeah, I miss Catelyn too. Watching pretty much any scene of hers nowadays makes me just freaking mad at D&D for cutting Stoneheart. Michelle Fairley is one hell of an actress, if she had been allowed to return as Lady Stoneheart, I'm sure she would have done great things with the character. If the Riverlands and the Freys are featured next year, I guess there still might be a small glimmer of hope ... or not. Probably not. I don't know.

Being vague in the inside-the-ep. thing about what exactly George told them will probably come back to bite them in the ass on that. If Stannis is off freezing in the snow trying to get to Winterfell, it seems really unlikely he orders Shireen to burn and it's more likely Selyse agrees to do it for Melisandre and then has her guilt trip afterwards. I can't figure out though why D&D would take that sort of risk with Stannis so badly. Is it possible they know more than we're giving them credit for? Why butcher Stannis so badly if he's going to die another way and Shireen burns anyways regardless? I like to think they are not that stupid as most of their plot choices (other than Dorne) have been pretty decent up to this point.

But in a way, it's nice to see Catelyn at peace. Chilling out with Ned in the Night Lands.
