Great trailer so hyped for the next part! The show really needed some new characters so im really glad we have ragnars sons aged up. Man! Wessex is intense and Rollo is probably going to help them invade Wessex - might be due to some thing in history I vaguely remember .
As for the aging, some woman age really well! I doubt Kathryn Winnick would look much different when she hits 50 and she's late 30's now.

yes, katheryn winnick does look really good for her real age too imo. I wouldn't have guessed by looking that she's pushing 40.

I really wonder why they chose to split the season in two parts. It would have been great to get the 20 eps in a bunch. Or at least make the 2nd part start one month after the break. Now we have to wait until fall...

Ragnar is probably in his late 30's/early 40's. IIRC it was confirmed in interviews that he was 17 when Björn was born.

But Björn must've been at least 13 in early season 1, so Ragnar must be 30 in it. Then there was a time jump and Björn started to look 18 at the very least, and only then Ubba was born. Now Ubba looks like he's in his early twenties too, so let's say 20 at the very least. 17+18+20=55 Ragnar is now at least 55 years old. Lagertha and Aslaug can't be much younger than that. Björn must be almost 40.

Do you think Aslaug was pregnant for 4 years? After the time jump, Ubbe and Hvitserk were already running around, and she was knocked up again with Sigurd. So it's more like 17+14+20=51. 51 is more doable with Lagertha's last pregnancy/miscarriage before the most recent time jump. Let's say she was 42-45 then. Getting pregnant in her late 40s/early 50s would be a bit less likely.

Ragnar's sons are fucking great. With only them, this show will WORK.

I like Ivar, think the actors is doing a great job. The other sons are okay and will hopefully be better once we get a bit more focus on them. Travis Fimmel is great as always, and is making Broken Desperate Ragnar work. Aslaug v Lagertha isn't very good. It just feels very contrived. "Look at what you did to Kattegat!" *blinks* *looks around* "Made it thrive?" And the whole "You stole my husband!" plays into all kinds of jealous woman cliches. It's a step up from 4a though so far. Next week we have Wessex and Paris though

I'm liking 4B much more then 4A so far, but they really butchered Lagertha's character

Lagertha is fucking awful these days. And I say that as someone who longed for Aslaug to just die for the last 3 seasons. Astrid is also an abominable character. Did she really proposition turning this into Gok Wan's How to look good naked: Viking Edition to Ubbe and Sigurd? Horst seems incapable of writing decent female characters. Remember Yidu? The rest was ok. But godamnit why are the still talking about Athelstan?! He was a good character when alive but just drop it already.

I liked seeing Rollo again, i still don't like his wife. Super pumped to see Rollo and Bjorn work together, his Ironborn/viking rebirth was great.
Lagertha, wtf you doing, Kattegat doesn't 'belong' to you. Now you've started an unnecessary internal conflict when ragnar's sons are scattered. I'm not sure what's going on with her or Auslaug but its random.
Actually happy to see Kind Ecbert again and that Wessex storlyine.
I haven't seen the most recent episode it seems..

Best written episode of the whole show

Certainly the best episode the show has done in a long long time. Cut out the brief Judith moments and I have no complaints. My concerns now (spoilered for igrewupinkl) Is whether the show can survive without Ragnar. I feel Bjorn could carry it, though he seems to be sidelined so far this season. Ivar is the obvious new lead, but even so, Travis Fimmel was the main reason I stuck with the show through its poor writing in S3-4a. If Hirst drops the ball again it's going to be more noticeable now his charismatic lead is gone. Also, terrible as Lagertha's plot has been for the past two seasons, I hope she is not killed off yet. The Great Heathen Army with none of the original cast is somewhat depressing. Having Lagertha die because of her nonsensical, ooc murder of Aslaug rather than helping muster an army to take vengeance for Ragnar (which is entirely in character) would be a very poor idea. Hopefully Astrid and Torvi can die in her place and Hirst might be able to salvage something from the train wreck Lagertha's character and plot have become

Alex Høgh Anderson has really impressed me so far. The other sons...not so much (besides Bjorn of course).
