Genuinely can't wait for this:
I've confessed here before to loving the Dan Brown novels. Even though I'm aware that they're not the best written or best researched, they're still insanely fun detective stories with some really cool themes and characters that are impossible to put down. The movies have been kind of hit-and-miss though, especially the last one Inferno was an absolute dumpster fire, so I'm really hoping the TV show won't suck.
The guy who plays Langdon seems great at least.

Bro, they about to ruin my favorite anime: Cowboy Bebop.

Anyone else watching/watched Squid Game? I'm 5 episodes in. It's so gripping, the show really knows how to build tension. The fucking cliffhangers the episodes do are so annoyingly brilliant.
I'd say it's a mix between Hunger Games and Black Mirror; especially the Fifteen Million Merits episode.

Bro, they about to ruin my favorite anime: Cowboy Bebop. This is the first I'm hearing about this. I have to say kind of weird that they cast a 50-year-old to play Spike. Nothing against John Cho, but he wouldn't have been my first choice for the character. And in other news, apparently, Chris Pratt has been cast to play Super Mario. I binged Mike Flanagan's new show "Midnight Mass" last night and it was great. I think I liked it more than Bly Manor, but not quite as much as Hill House. Squid Game is on my list, I've heard good things. I kind of want to finish Clone Wars before I start a new show though.

Okay so this looks like a direct adaptation of the first five episodes, as well as Pierrot le Fou, Brain Scratch, and maybe Mushroom Samba. I kind of assumed they would tell new stories in the Cowboy Bebop universe, while building on the story of Spike, Julia, Vicious and the Syndicate. That would have been a safer move I think, but if they're straight up adapting each episode in live action, it's going to draw more comparisons to the anime, and the bar is just set so damn high. It's not fair to judge the show from this, but everything has a cheap TV look to it.

It looks fanmade. I mean, I don't hate it, and I appreciate the fact that it's somewhat stylized, but it does kind of feel like cosplay. Yep, The Last Airbender remake will do the same, just straight up adapt the original show in live-action. And the weirdest thing about it, we already had a live-action remake and it sucked. And even if this one turned out great, still ... what's the point of retelling the same story over and over? Why not just come up with something original and new? I would kill for another sequel series like Legend of Korra, but no, instead, they're just gonna give us yet another lesser version of the original show.

Yeah, I appreciate the fact that they're trying to be faithful, but it's hard to improve something that's all ready great. I have a feeling fans will rip these adaptations apart.

I talked to my brother this morning and we discussed Midnight Mass, and he told me how much the story of the show reminded him of Bloodborne. I didn't notice this myself, but he's totally right, the basic premise is basically the same. Bloodborne spoilers: The story of Bloodborne is that there was a scholar named Laurance, who was part of an expedition set to explore a network of ancient tombs deep beneath the earth. Down there they found a strange creature that granted them a holy medium in form of a liquid, which of course was its blood. Consuming what they called "The Old Blood" granted them vigor and strength, and it healed all wounds and sicknesses. It made the scholars believe that the creature they had encountered was a God and that consuming its blood would allow mankind to evolve into something greater. Laurence returned to his city and established the Healing Church, an organization that made it possible for everyone to commune with the holy medium. However, eventually, consumption of the old blood begun turning people into violent beasts, robbing them of their minds and humanity.
In Midnight Mass, a priest finds a monstrous creature deep beneath the earth that he believes to be divine. The creature feeds him its blood, which makes the priest young and strong again. He returns to his city, believing to have discovered a holy medium that would help humanity evolve, so he starts feeding the creature's blood to his congregation and the people do indeed become stronger, younger, healthier at first, but eventually, they all turn into bloodthirsty beasts and start killing each other.
Obviously, Bloodborne takes place in a Gothic fantasy setting and everything regarding the old blood and the Great Ones is a bit more complex, whereas, in Midnight Mass, it's just straight-up vampires. But the story beats of the basic premises are basically identical, which kind of blew my mind.

Basically the creators of the original series stepped away from the Netflix adaptation (so that's now its own thing) and have said they'll be making new Avatar stuff for Nickelodeon. I think the only confirmed thing so far is an animated movie.

Okay, I definitely feel like John Cho looks way too old to be playing Spike. At the risk of sounding shallow, Spike in the anime is literally the hottest animated character to me, so him looking like the middle-aged uncle of the group kind of kills the whole thing for me.

on season 3 of boardwalk empire. nucky thompson is evil but i love him. i think its funny how in a show about mobsters and corrupt politicians, somehow michael shannon's jesus freak cop is still the most terrifying character there. i cannot put into words how much i don't like this chick tho

I think it ties BCS and BB together really well. Give breaking bad a watch. You won't regret it.

You won't regret it. yeah, the bad takes i've seen on online comments range from it wasn't even real if redemption if he still put on a show and manipulated everyone and kim scammed her way into the prison visit or he should've gotten away with it til the end and fuck kim for ratting even tho he dared her to or it should have gone full dark with saul getting killed in prison. from what i can tell having watched only this half of the brbaverse, it is neither a straight morality play where all sins are equal whether the lies hurt nobody or ruin a man's career, nor it is some grimdark edgy for edgy's sake shit where evil always win and everything is 100% suffering. yeah, i started brba last night with the first 3 eps.
