Well, I'm waiting for the Red Priestess to return, because she promised results, and it would make sense for the Iron Born to stumble upon the new found Dany fanaticism in Volantis. And since Yara was recently revealed to be a lesbian... I'm just connecting the dots here, man!

The McShane/Hound stuff felt like it was out of a completely different show (a very good different show, but different nonetheless). It felt like a little character vignette that a lot of other shows do but that GoT doesn't usually have the time for. Extremely weird that they decided to reintroduce the Hound as part of his very own story and not through another established character's eyes (like Brienne). I liked it but it was made for a much different pacing than we're used to. I'm not exactly sure why Arya needed to be stabbed, that seems like a weird way to continue her story when we know the Waif confrontation just picks up again in the next episode. She probably could have skipped this episode and it wouldn't have affected her story at all. I do wonder if they're setting up the fact that she'll need to "die" or switch faces like Jaqen did and that's why E8 is her big one with her getting the title dedicated to her. Olenna be writing to Ellaria yo. And I do wonder if she's also writing to her old buddy Varys as well which is the reason why he leaves Meereen (I've been trying to figure out the reason he just bolts all season). I know it doesn't appear like we're getting a Trial by Combat for Cersei but there are a lot of signs that they're setting up Loras to be the Faith's champion. Maybe that's the original plan because they think he can take out the Mountain but Cersei fucks up King's Landing before any of that occurs. It felt like ASOIAF prologue chapter, kind of like AGOT opening. I absolutely loved all of it.

Nope, I pushed the 10 up to #1. It is weird though, I was kinda indifferent to Episode 6, but this blew me away again. It's really interesting to see how divisive this episode is. I think the key factor here is one's opinion on Sandor as a character. I don't find him and his storyline particularly interesting and his scenes in this episodes bored me felt a little bit too long. Apart from that, I thought the episode had a lot of strong scenes, but they were really just set-up. Nothing had the emotional punch of episodes like "The Door". So yeah, for me it is definitely the weakest episode since 5x06 probably. But that's ok, I guess I'll love the last three. And I'm glad y'all loved it. Sandor is one of my absolute favorite characters, top 5 in fact, but I still felt this was the weakest episode of the season. Like I said when I rated it though, that's more a testament to the quality of the other episodes.

I just gave it a 10, and put the 10s above the 9s. I loved everything about this episode. I was shocked when it was over, because it flew by. I've been trying to find the actual run time out of curiosity, but I suck at finding such info. The cold open was great. It was both intimate and sprawling, because it showed us something we hadn't seen before. Life going well for the small folk. They struck me as a group of refugees, probably from burned down towns in the region, because it seemed they were all getting to know one another. And then of course, seeing the Hound was awesome. I knew I would see him from the moment I learned the title of this episode, so I wasn't as excited as I might have been if I'd been truly unspoiled, but it was still a great moment for me. And another book spoiler revealed! Like others have said, the opening felt like a book prologue. Loved it. My husband saw Ian McShane and said "Yes! McShane! I'll finally have a character I'm emotionally invested in." Oops. This episode was very male-focused, in keeping with the broken man theme. Broken men who started healing themselves this episode: Sandor, Theon, Jon, Jaime, Black Fish...and broken men who were mentioned and are still broken: Edmure Tully, Jorah Mormont, Loras Tyrell. This season has been very focused on the female characters, so it was nice to spend some time with the men. God, they really are so broken! I've discussed my opinions on other moments elsewhere, so I won't repeat but there was stellar dialogue all over this thing. And stellar acting. Lady Mormont is a beast. Arya will not die. NOPE.

And I don't hate Sandor at all either and a lot of his scenes from the first four seasons were pretty cool. I guess I just prefer seeing more of the other characters. But that's ok, I'm glad that our Clegane fans here got what they wanted. They deserved it too. Btw, as much as I bitched about the repetitiveness of Dany's scene last week, I once again came to the conclusion that I'm here for her and all the other main characters. I wanna know what happens to Dany, Cersei, Jaime, Tyrion and of course, the Starks more than anything. These characters are the reason why I watch this show.
