I opened this thread expecting to see reviews and instead I see another classic UTHT argument in a place it does not belong.
On to the review!
This was a magnificent episode, one of the best, if not the best in the entire series. I gave the episode a solid 10. It had some small minor nitpicks, but nothing is perfect. I loved nearly everything about it.
++++++++ Snowbowl. What a fantastic battle, so many strategic elements to it, so many details, so many different events. They filmed the battle a bit differently and I loved this "grittier" version of it. The battle was anxious and exciting. I can't find a single thing from the battle (except Manderly's absence ) that really bothered me.
+ Pre-battle scenes were great, Sansa really questioning Jon's tactics was great. Jon and Mel was okay. Tormund and Davos was nice, explaining motivations behind the characters. Davos was superb this episode.
+ Jon channeling his inner Aragorn was also great. Yes, he fell into Ramsay's trap and Sansa did try to warn him. Rickon's death was well done.
+ I have complained about the Rohirrim charges before, but this one was great. The Vale knights are awesome. Shame Stannis didn't have help.
+ Ramsay was finally killed. He was not killed honorably, but that would have been too kind from the Stark siblings. This is probably the only Sansa "Stoneheart" scene you're going to see.
+ So many more positive scenes that I didn't mention. Great episode.
+/- Dany scenes were quite weird this episode. I liked some and disliked some. Emilia's acting was quite inconsistent this episode and I'm not sure if it's on purpose. Dany going from the Mad Queen to the smirky queen later on. Dragons worked quite well, but some scenes were quite weird. Dany's and Yara's sexual tension for example. Just what I feared. Euron's horrible speech still haunts the show. Oh my. Why would Dany allow Yara to steal away a slice of her kingdom? Dany's dragons just breaking a pyramid as if they wouldn't have done that before if they could have?
- Wyman Manderly not being in. I would have loved house Manderly to be in, but yeah, no need for such in depth plot.
