Sure, but the date it was written doesn't matter, just the date it was released. The timing might mean something. It would if it wasn't one he'd been offering to read for a very long time now and hoping people would ask for instead of his Arianne chapters. And this time again he only read it because people chose it over the ones he had read. I mean, I'd love it to mean something. I'd love for any TWOW information to mean something. But so little of it does. Gods damn you, hypeslayer

That said, I'm not even to big on Theon I. Mercy was my favourite from TWoW and still is. I guess this Aeron one comes in second now. The rest I don't care much for. Mercy is still my favorite as well. This Aeron one was solid though, and I like Theon and Barristan's too. Wasn't crazy about Arianne or Alayne.

And then there's a Tyrion one or two kicking around too, right? Neither of which interest me much. The Battle of Meereen seems to be mostly treading water narratively at the moment. I preferred the Alayne one to Arianne ones by a great deal (obviously), since GrrM hadn't even featured Sansa since AFFC. But yeah, Mercy's still the best BY FAR.

Reading "The Forsaken" with Euron's theme playing on background

What if showEuron, instead of gathering all kinds of priests, starts gathering maesters, and this is one of the reasons why he attacks Oldtown (and not just for the horn)? We could end up seeing Sam taking over Aeron's role. Poor Sam.

We could end up seeing Sam filling Aeron's boots. Poor Sam. I don't think that's happening, but Euron and Sam will definitely meet. In both books and the show. What did you think about Damphair's vision btw? The ruler should not be Euron, not Victarion, not Asha, but... My guess is that the name Aeron hears is either his own or Theon.

I don't know, the only name that makes sense is Theon.

I thought Aeron actually. I'm not even sure they know Theon still lives, and even if he did, he was very critical of his "green lands" ways when he came to Pyke in Clash of Kings

Don't know if this is the right thread for it, but thought it was worth discussing.
There seems to be a growing faction that believes that GRRM is distancing himself from D&D and the show. I keep trying to inform the people of the facts (#1 - GRRM is still reviewing outlines, #2 - he still blogs about the show, #3 - GRRM celebrated with D&D at a recent award ceremony, #4 - he hasn't ruled out writing an episode if TWOW is complete, etc).
I get that GRRM might be salty about the Hodor, Shireen and the stuff to follow. I personally adore the dude, but he knows this one got away from him.
For some reason, I think he's really motivated to finishing TWOW again. I kind of thought the opposite would happen once Season 6 started. But he's not blogging as much these days and he's more up to sharing new chapters (even if they written a long time ago). We all need to hope and dream that he gets TWOW done by April-May 2017. If he does, he'll be writing an episode for Season 7 Part II and hopefully afterwards, he can turn his attention to ADOS. I still think it's about 50-50 shot at best.

That's the first interesting Damphair chapter (to me, anyways) and the poor dude is being tortured in it.

Show haters have said GRRM and D&D are not getting along for years now. I have no idea if its true or not, my personal opinion is that GRRM doesnt like some of the choices the show made but as a former tv writer knows his books cant be adapted verbatim, and he is upset some things are being spoiled, but he is also an adult and knows he only has himself to blame for that. He had years to finish the books before the show surpassed him.

I saw someone at Reddit call Euron "madness incarnate" and it fits so well.

Btw, here's a transcript without any angrygotfan grime. It appears to be more complete and have less typos.
