Decided to combine the spoiler and non-spoiler threads so it's one discussion, which was @igrewupinkl 's idea in the first place. If you are posting anything containing spoilers, please use spoiler tags.

For @witchy and everyone else who have not read all the spoilers for Season 6, you can discuss the episode here. If you know all of the spoilers so far and want to join the discussion in this thread as well, please be careful and use spoiler tags if necessary. Otherwise treat your predictions as speculation.

Poor Mel.
She must feel like such a failure.
She put everything into R'hllor seemingly guiding her to bring about AAR in Stannis. Now everything has crumbled for her. She must feel without purpose and that her god is a lie.
Though, that should change next week if we get the resurrection scene. I hope she doesn't have to sacrifice herself for it.

While Emilia has gotten better at dialog in 'common tongue', she just nails Dothraki (as well as Valyrian).

Well that was really unexpected with the Dorne bits. Buzzkill that was and I just don't get it.
The rest... ALL the rest of it was fucking awesome so it's still a winning premiere if not the best.

Generally, it was a good season premier. I never expect much of these episodes as they are trying to recap what happened last season, tie up any open storyline and set up the remainder of the storylines for the rest of the season.
Sansa and Theon were good, it was the action part of the episode and it was nice to see the exchange between Sansa and Bienne. I also liked the Wall, Davod, Edd and the guys watching out for Jon. I do wonder though why are they guarding his body, wouldn't the Nights Watch also want to burn Jon? The best part of the Wall was Mel, seeing her so defeated and lost, it gives her a nice dimension.
Danygetting to Vaes Dothraki was good, nothing to exciting but it sets up the relationship between her and Khal Moro (or whatever the hell his name is.)
Arya and the Asshole was alright, nothing to write home about.

That really just left me wanting to see more. Sleep time. I'll have to go to bed soon but I just always enjoy a little discussion after the episode before heading to bed.

YES. Ghost howling broke my heart the entire scene with the guys finding Jon was very ominous and tense. I really liked it. Sansa and Theon was fine. Classic Roose and Ramsay. I liked Sansa forgetting the words to the speech. Proves she's not some impenetrable warrior queen...yet. Lena killed me. Cersei genuinely looked so excited, and then slowly crushed. Her rantings about the witch were pure AFFC. Lord fucking Varys. That's all I can say on that. Benerro? Honestly, I was pleasantly un-appalled with Dorne. I thought the acting was good, the glances between Ellaria and Tyene. "Your mother is a brilliant woman". I guess Nym and Obara snuck onto the boat after the poisoning. Ok I'll take it. Dany is back with the Dothraki! Emilia was truly fierce in this scene. Her eye rolls were on point. I'm excited for her to let loose. Was she looking at Drogon when they said she saw a ghost? Mel is old af. Carice sold the scene wonderfully though. She looked disgusted with herself in a way. A+ Overall I give it a 9.5/10

I though it was a great premiere. I though last years was the best premiere episode, but honestly, aside from Dorne I enjoyed this episode. I can ignore the continuity error in the glamour, the whole having Brienne find Sansa straight away was a cop out IMO, but far better than having the Boltons catch her. I kinda thought Podrick was gonna die, but it is only the premiere, no character deaths yet. The Mereen ships were kind of pointless, but I think they did that mainly to throw book fans off the greyjoys. Davos is still the fucking man. The guards thing still makes me question, but I can overlook it. All in all, a strong premiere

So, I assume that Melisande is just lying down to die? Wow. Did NOT see that coming. I'm guessing Jon Snow is inside Ghost right now. He HAS to be. If not, the only way for him to come back is as a Walker or wight of some kind. Unless the Brotherhood ends up at the Wall...I think a lot of people would dislike where that line of reasoning heads.
So, I guess Doran didn't have any grand plot after all...why wasn't Trystane on the boat with Jaime and Myrcella?

I think they were all on the same ship, but out of respect for her death he stayed behind while Jaime brought the body to the Red Keep.

Edit: To be clear, I always liked him, and his were some of my favorite chapters to read. I like looking "through his eyes." But the actor makes him even more likable.

I wonder if they will have Mel as Shiera/Shiera's child in the show. Obviously it's only a theory in the books for now that that's who she is, but guess it's possible (the 400 years old comment only came from an actor's interview iirc so doesn't need to mean too much). The white hair (or what little there was) could be a clue to that. But then with only a very limited time left I'm not sure this is the kind of thing to go into
