Which of the characters that are no longer in the story you miss most and why? In my case, it would be Tywin. I miss so much of his presence and command on screen. His relationship with his family was always complex and extremely interesting for me. Same with his political machinations. The King's Landing plot is just not the same without him, and probably will never be. Also, Charles Dance is a world class actor.
I also miss The Hound. He is hilarious and a badass in every sense of the word. A complex character with his own moral code and a troubled past. Luckily, it seems very likely that we will see him again.

Oberyn Martell. Such an interesting and badass character. Pedro Pascal absolutely killed it on the role too, and if not for him Dorne would either be totally forgettable, or worse a complete joke (thanks Sandsnakes). We didn't get enough of him in the books or the show. If any ASoIaF/GoT character got their own background story told I would want it to be him. I miss Sandor too, but like you say, we're getting him back!

I loved him in the books, but after Pedro Pascal awesome perfomance, Oberyn became one of my absolutely favorite characters. In fact, Oberyn and Ned Stark are hands down the best one-season-only characters in the show so far.

I have one very obvious choice and a not so obvious one. The obvious choice is of course Lady Catelyn. I'm not going to talk about the controversy surrounding this character. I'm not making this a LSH argument either. I'm just gonna name some reasons for this choice instead: - She's a very complex female character and I generally love female characters. - Michelle Fairley. She gave the best performance this show has ever seen and that is saying something. - She has a lot of influence on many characters (her children first and foremost) and I think the show could have expanded on that and explored this. - If they had gone the LSH route, there could have been some insanely spine-chilling and horrific visuals to explore. As a horror fan, I would have loved to see this. The not so obvious choice is Joffrey Baratheon. Yes, he was a little prick and his death is probably one of the most satisfying deaths in the history of the universe. So I completely get why he had to go. But Jack Gleeson's presence on the show was so strong and he was such an iconic character in the first three seasons. The entire internet loved to hate him. The show was never the same after his death. Don't get me wrong, the quality didn't drop, but Joffrey's death was really the final page of that first act of the story IMO. It really changed the status quo, because finally a villain died instead of another Stark. So yeah, thinking about that little prick makes me all nostalgic.

I agree with all of the characters that you guys mentioned, but another character that I sorely miss from the show is Barristan Selmy. I was extremely upset when they killed him off not only because he is still alive in the books, but also I thought he was incredibly underused in the show. I understood that they wanted to give more of the advising role to Jorah and then have Dany and Tyrion meet faster, but it would have been exciting to see Barristan in command during the Siege of Meereen on screen. Anyway, I thought that Ian McElhinney was amazing starting from S1, especially where he said "I could get through the five of you like carving a cake." That was fucking badass. He also made a really strong impression during S3 as him pledging his sword to Dany gave me hope that Barristan could know what it's like to serve with pride. Even his conversation with Dany about Rhaegar was a quite genuine moment for both characters because it really painted him as being someone who was relatively close to the Targaryens, but considering how unusually happy the scene was, it did feel like his death was coming. Though I will say that it was really cool to see him finally fight in the show.

I miss: Ned, Catelyn, Robb, Jeor Mormont, Benjen, Oberyn: It would be interesting to me to see these characters in play with the current situations in the story. I guess for me, I feel like-just like life-their potential was cut off too soon when they died or went missing (in Benjen's case). I won't say that I miss Tywin from the books but Charles Dance did such a good job, I think Tywin was the best villain this show had, so I do miss that (even though he got what he deserved).

I really miss Shae and Tyrion's interactions. It was nice to see that side of him. So I miss Shae. I miss Joffrey for the same reasons Kairos mentioned. I've always wondered if Margaery could have had enough of a calming influence on Joffrey to keep him from acting cruelly. And of course, all the elder Starks and their household people like Maester Luwin and Ser Rodrick. I was super attached to them since I read the books first, and A Game of Thrones starts in Winterfell and spends a lot of time there letting you get to know all of them, having no clue you're going to see every single one of them die. Oh, and I really miss Ros. She was basically there for sexposition, but she managed to steal all of her scenes. I liked what they did with that character (except her death, which I thought was a little too sexy/pretty.)

That's what's great about this show, I miss nearly all of the characters they kill off. Even the villains as they're so interesting.
Ned, Robb, Cat, Barristan, Oberyn, Tywin, Joffrey, Aemon. They're all great.

Ned, Tywin, and Stannis most of all. Jeor Mormont, Oberyn, and Cat too.

Interesting to hear a few notes of the House of Black and White theme there, as terrible incredible as the scene is.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Shireen yet.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Shireen yet. Haven't had a chance to miss her yet. The same goes for Stannis and Jon (ha!). Her death is probably the most horrific thus far.
