Sounds like a filler season for Tyrion (and Dany), but I'm ok with that as long as they wrap up that Essos storyline. I think he'll appear in 8-9 episodes but his scenes will be shorter than usual. Yeah I mean they could really fit his arc into 6 episodes, but I think they'll stretch it out into 9.

Anyway @kairos , Here is what Tyrion's arc might look like. It's clearly unfinished though. This is why we need a trailer because I still have a load of questions. In Dany's absence, Tyrion, Varys, Missandei, Grey Worm try to rule Meereen. Tyrion and Varys walk the Meereenese walls where eventually former slaves and masters flee in the opposite direction. They eventually discover that the Sons of the Harpy have destroyed the granaries and they meet an emaciated woman with a starving child who pleads for help. Tyrion and Missandei discuss the political situation in the Meereenese gardens where she agrees to his and Varys's plan of bringing a Red Priestess from Volantis to satisfy the populace of Meereen who are now writing that "Mhysa is a Master" on the city walls. The Red Priestess Kinvara arrives in Meereen to meet with Tyrion and Varys in the Throne Room where they appear skeptical of her magic, but plead for help. She eventually agrees as she believes that Dany is "The One Who Was Promised." Despite, Tyrion attempting to improve the life of the citizens in Meereen, the Wise Masters of Yunkai take advantage of Dany being gone and send their Razdal mo Eraz revealing that they plan to declare war as the city is falling into more unrest. However, Tyrion decides to rationalize the grain supply to all citizens to the bemusement of the masters. When he hallucinates that Shae is among the Meereenese, he tries to feed all the citizens equally to eliminate the famine, but the Former Great Masters grow more furious as their supplies are now limited. Tyrion learns that Varys has business elsewhere, potentially opening the door for Dany's invasion of Westeros, and accompanies him to the port where they say their goodbyes. While Tyrion has gained the trust of the common people, the Harpies, the Yunkish, and the former Masters secretly plan to remove Dany's council. Tyrion and Missandei stand on the balcony of the pyramid to see that the Yunkish are outside the city walls planning to siege Meereen. Once they begin striking, Tyrion nearly loses control of the city and the Sons of the Harpy accidentally free Rhaegal and Viserion. When nearly everything seems lost, Dany and her khalasar arrive to end the siege and ride to the gates where demands that the Good and Wise Masters surrender. During the uproar, Daario is killed by one of the dragons. Dany meets with Tyrion where they decide on leaving Slaver's Bay behind as Varys and Jorah have already begun opening the door for her arrival in Westeros. Dany, Tyrion, Missandei, and Grey Worm meet with Razdal, Yezzan, and another master to negotiate for more ships that she will take back to Westeros along with the Meereenese fleet, but they refuse. Drogon flies overheard and burns the three masters and nearly all of Meereen. Dany, Tyrion, Missandei, then prepare to leave Slaver's Bay and sail for Westeros planning to land in Dorne. After, Dany takes enough supplies from Meereen to feed her entourage, the Dothraki, the Unsullied, and the former slaves and common people onto the ships, they set sail for Westeros and Dany is seen flying above on Drogon.
Sounds like a filler season for Tyrion (and Dany), but I'm ok with that as long as they wrap up that Essos storyline. It'll basically be all late ADWD and early TWOW stuff. Reconfigured around Tyrion and Varys and bringing in Kinvara as a gender-swapped Moqorro-Benerro composite character. So we'll get a bit of politicking, a siege by the Yunkish, some incarnation of the Battle of Fire and then Dany coming back and saying, "Let's get out of here." I imagine there'll be a lot of two-hander scenes between Tyrion and Varys. Of it all I think Kinvara will the most interesting element. In part because I think throwing in the religious element into that storyline has a lot of good potential and in part because Melanie Liburd is

As much as I love the show, I think Tyrion is pretty much the most uninteresting character (one of the very few things I really dislike about the show). I didn't care much for Book!Tyrion, but Show!Tyrion is so much worse. They got rid of everything that made him somewhat interesting in the books. But Varys is great, so I hope that will result in some good scenes. I just wish that Dany and Tyrion were in one place again. I liked their scenes in S5.

I like it! It will be interesting to read your revised and extended outlines after the trailer. By the way, do you think both Daario and Jorah will perish this season?

He did absolutely nothing wrong in that season, although his book counterpart is much more morally ambiguous. They should have shown this part of him, too. It's what makes him interesting in the first place. However, I think S5 was an improvement over his boring book!storyline. But the characterization was already messed up, so that didn't help (much).

It happened with book Tyrion too (although for different reasons, of course, becasue they are two very differente characters). Tyrion was my absolute favorite in the first three books, but I can't stand him in ADWD. He became an absolute prick, full of self pity. And it dind't help the large cast of uninteresting characters around him.

If there's one change I'm okay with, it's getting rid of Tyrion's ADWD stuff and the fAegon character. That whole storyline was fucking tedious, and I'm saying this as someone who adores the books.

Totally agree. In fact, If I had been the George's editor, fAegon and company would never have seen the light of day. Far too late for another secret Targaryen prince.

I just don't get why D&D would decide to make him less interesting by getting rid of a more morally-grey characterization. Were they afraid that people wouldn't sympathize with him anymore? Antiheroes can work. It worked for Breaking Bad, Hannibal and countless other shows.

I knew that there was no way that D&D would have let show Tyrion be as awful as ADWD Tyrion. But I was hoping that they could at least show even about 50% of that moral ambiguity in season 5.....but they didn't. Even his hatred for Cersei was toned down. And don't even get me started on that scene with the sex slave in the Volantis brother.
another thing about Tyrion is that I can't imagine show Tyrion to be facing much of a conflict in season 6. He's too whitewashed to be making any real mistakes, doing anything wrong or even have an unlikeable attitude. I imagine Season 6 to be a pretty smooth ride for Tyrion...and that's just boring.
also COMPLETELY agreed about Faegon, so glad that character and storyline were cut from the show.

I could see that happening, although GRRM's plot pace is so slow since AFFC that I'm not sure Dany can land in Westeros in late TWOW either. Basically, I can see season 6 going like this: King's Landing: first half of TWOW. Oldtown: AFFC + an event from early TWOW. Dorne: Invented. Iron Islands/Euron: AFFC + ADWD + an event from early TWOW. The Riverlands: Late AFFC + early TWOW. The North: All of TWOW. The Wall: All of TWOW. Bran: All of TWOW. Arya: Nearly all of TWOW. Dany/Tyrion: First 2 thirds of TWOW. Some storylines will need "artificial" endings (same happened in season 3). And then they must all quickly get on the same page in season 7.

Antiheroes can work. It worked for Breaking Bad, Hannibal and countless other shows. That's a good question. I think they took that decision back in Season 2, when they decided to cut the story of Tyrion commanding Bronn to kill that bard that was blackmailing him (Symon Silver Tongue, IIRC). Now it's too late for a change. Show Tyrion as he is now is a fan favorite, and changing him to book Tyrion would be too abrupt after 5 seasons for most watchers. So sadly, that ship has sailed...

Yeah I think most of it seems reasonable, but we still only know about 10% of the season. It's just a matter of navigating the plot points, but I'm really looking forward to the trailer and how much footage they'll show of each storyline. I'm pretty sure Daario will die during the Battle of Fire, but Jorah I see making it to Westeros. Also if my theory about him is correct about taking on more of Connington's role, then it's likely he'll survive too.

I think Roose will die around 6x05-6x07.
Ramsay will have 3 episodes after his father's death. One for discussing with the northern lords, one for Snowbowl, and one for death.
