Sorry for the double post, but thanks to you guys I have spent the last 2 days researching the CK2 mod and now I'm craving it. A few questions before I purchase it. 1. Does the CKII: GOT have a functional multiplayer? For example could we just have a massive multiplayer game with the guys and gals of underthehearttree? 2. Does anyone have any experience of g2a.com? Are they trustworthy? What is their secret behind the dirt cheap prices? I haven't done as much homework as you, but I did take a peek at it on Steam plus watched part of that video Nezzer linked. In the Key Features section, it says: "Relive the Middle Ages with up to 32 other players in a competitive multiplayer mode" so apparently you can set up quite large games. I found that surprising since games of this kind usually have a more tabletop (4-6 players) sort of multiplayer mode. Really makes this quite interesting. Unfortunately as I found with Age of Empires - once a game like this has been around awhile and has a dedicated niche market fan following, playing multiplayer usually ends disastrously for me because I just suck at strategic maneuvers. I never was any good at Risk either haha. I've got it on my to-do list to watch the GoT mod episodes on youtube to see if it's actually something I could tackle and learn. The price is a bit steep though, so I might have to wait until mid-summer to justify a full game price buy as I usually always wait for games to be on sale via Steam or Amazon and this one doesn't seem to go on sale. *Edit: I've never bought games from one of those blackmarket sites - am too skeert. While I'll confess to torrents in the past for GoT / HBO - I never ever get hacked games and always buy legit copies. For some reason as a gamer that just seems more wrong to me. I always hated gold farmers in MMOs too. I pride myself on being honest with games hah.

Yes, you can set up multiplayer matches, but I don't like them very much. CK2 is a game where you constantly have to pause to make your plans and put them in action. You study the other characters, their traits, possible alliances, how much money they have, claims and claimants and so on. MP games move way too slow because of that, and it gets pretty tiresome IMHO.

It's a shame because I really like them. It's ridiculously expensive on Steam, that's why I'm looking for other options. I don't think that it's a black market site, seems to be more of a grey market (buying cheap keys from developing countries and selling them to the developed ones). I would still like to hear opinions about sites like g2a.

I appreciate you saying that, because honestly I think that would be something that would make it annoying for me as well since I'm the slowpoke one and would feel rushed or on-the-spot to make moves. I'm self conscious like that and partly why I suck at multiplayer strategy games! Long ago a friend of mine talked me into playing Age of Empires with he and a few of his buddies. I played the game solo for a long time, priding myself on learning how to be pretty good at it - but then I got destroyed in multiplayer because of course the dynamic is entirely different from playing against the computer and you have to think 5 times faster! So I completely get you on that about the pausing. I would be forever paused and freaking out haha.

The Game of Thrones mod is relatively easy to handle compared to the actual game. There's just a lot to pay attention to. If you want to figure out the game and its mechanics, play as the Night's Watch.
Also I don't know if the mod itself works with multiplayer. I know the Total War one didn't. But if it does, I am definitely down to play with everyone here.

The first one was extremely complicated, so if the GoT mod is not so complex, I might give it a go.

Starting out as Jon is a good way to practice while still playing in real time, all you really have to do is the few appointments and dealings and its good practice for moving armies when all you have to deal with is little bands of wildlings.

You can play even as House Forrester and House Whitehill from the Telltale game in the most recent versions. Daenerys is the only character that can be played without being landed in the ACOK scenario. You can also play as a family from the Free Cities, from the Dothraki and even from exotic places like Asshai, Yi Ti and the Summer Isles.

I played the CKII demo for a bit earlier and I'm getting better! I figured out how to fight this time so whenever there was a war or rebellion it wasn't just an uncontrollable downward spiral I could not stop. But I have a question, I'm not going to buy it properly until after my exams (because otherwise I won't study lol), but is the demo designed so that after a certain amount of time you just autolose? If not, I'm flopping hardcore some other way and I don't know what's happening

Not to interrupt the CKII talk (not even sure what that is lmao looks like you guys are having fun though!) but has anyone played the Game of Thrones game? The first one not the Telltale one. Just downloaded it because it was a dollar on PSN. I'll probably start it sometime this week. Heard the story was good. Anyone here play it?

Personally I haven't played that, but I have read a few reviews and they weren't so positive. Please tell us what you think when you have played some of it. Okay, back to CKII. I brought it today (from g2a for 8 bucks) and downloaded the GoT mod. I played it for 2 hours straight until it crashed I started as Jeor Mormont and the NW as lordcarson suggested. Mance attacked me under 5 min and nearly lost, but thankfully I managed to push him back. Soon after Jeor died some random dude took over the wall and I controlled him. Later on the White walkers surrendered and Mance sued for peace. Stannis won the war of the Five kings and he controversially executed Robb and Sansa and put Rickon in charge at Winterfell. Stannis soon died after he lost a duel against Garlan Tyrell. Shireen "the Stoneface" took over and she's a tyrant (she is tutored by LF). Bran leads the North and the Riverlands against her, but loses and WF and the North goes to some weird dude whose name I can't remember. The Martells took Skagos and so on. Veery interesting.

It's pretty shitty graphics-wise but the story is actually really cool and I didn't find the combat system as terrible as most, though it is hard to get used to. I got stuck at a certain fight in Mole's Town until I realized that I could press space bar (I played on PC) to slow time down and plan out my moves ahead of time. Then I killed the dude immediately. But yeah, not a great game, worth a play through for the story though, especially for a buck.
