This is a really beautiful piece of fanart. The Blighted Despot, Scarmiglione. The Empress of the Winds, Barbariccia. The Drowned King, Cagnazzo. The Autarch of Flame, Rubicante. I love that they're all named after demons from Dante's Inferno.

Have you at least consulted some summary? Because if not, this is very impressive.

I know literally eveything there is to know about these games.

No, I did not consult a summary. I know FF8 (and FF9 and FF10) by heart ... I know literally eveything there is to know about these games. You are crazy. I love these games and I've played them many times, but I still can't remember every name of every town/city and every plot point in the correct order. The only game I could POSSIBLY try to do this for would be FFVII, but even there, I forgot a lot of the details. However, I still know the overarching plot and characters and analysis very well of course.

FF7's storyline, while amazing, is also convoluted as fuck, so I don't think I'd be able to create an accurate timeline for that game without any help. FF8, 9 and 10, though ... easy!

I would cut some of it anyway, tbh. I know, how very D&D of me, but we don't need so many Laguna dreams, especially not for entire episodes. IMHO (and this is very, very subjective) I think VII and X (and possibly VI) would make the best TV shows. VII and X just have the most mature and well-plotted stories. VIII's story is a tad bit too unbelievable at the end. It worked okayish for a video game, but I can't see it working as a show/film. However, it has some amazing visuals which would be interesting to see. The Dollet mission in the beginning alone could be awesome visually.

However, it has some amazing visuals which would be interesting to see. The Dollet mission in the beginning alone could be awesome visually. The only Laguna dream that would make up (almost) an entire episode would be the third one, the one in Winhill, where we meet Raine and Ellone as a little girl. That dream is arguably the most important one anyway (since Laguna and Raine are Squall's parents and it's the only time in the game we meet Raine at all). There is superfluous stuff that could be cut from the story, but the Laguna dreams are extremely important. In the first dream, it is established who Laguna is, a Galbadian soldier who hates fighting and wants to be a journalist. We also meet Julia, Rinoa's mother. She and Laguna have a short-lived romance, but they would never see each other again. In the second dream, Laguna and his friends explore the Centra ruins, where Esthar soldiers are excavating something. Much later in the game we learn that Esthar has found a huge (gigantic!) crystal pillar that would one day become the Lunatic Pandora, a device that can be used to initiate the Lunar Cry. I already talked about the third dream in Winhill. In the fourth dream we see Laguna acting in a movie called "The Sorceress' Knight". This fucking movie is what inspired Seifer's "romantic dream", and it's also the reason why he uses a gunblade (he wields it in the same way Laguna does in his movie). But that one is not really important, what's important is that we get a glimpse at the Lunatic Pandora in the distance for a brief moment and that Squall actually manages to communicate with Ellone before the dream fades out. In the fifth and final dream, Laguna is held prisoner by Esthar and forced to work on the Lunatic Pandora. We meet Dr. Odine (another very important character), we learn about the conspiracy against Sorceress Adel and in the end, Laguna finally rescues Ellone. I wouldn't cut either one of the dreams, to be honest. There is other stuff that I wouldn't miss, but the Laguna dreams tell their own little side story, taking something away from that would hurt the overall picture, in my opinion. And everything that happens in those dreams is the basis on which the main story of the game is build.

Dream number 3 is very important, but I don't think it needs that much time. But then again, I think I'm subjective, because to me the Laguna dreams were the most boring parts of the entire game.

I'm ashamed for nerding out so hard. You know which FFVII scene would be AMAZING, visually? When the party wakes up in Shinra's headquarters after being captured and then they discover that everyone is dead and they see the bloodbath. It would be so fucking creepy and they could really go for some Alien-esque shit there.

Fuck Sephiroth, Jenova is the real villain of FF7 and it's doubtful if that thing is even conscious or if it's driven only by its instincts (like the whole reunion thing). Just the mere concept of what Jenova is and how absolutely undestructable it seems to be creeps me out. It's probably my favourite part of FF7's storyline.

What I love most about FF7 is all the horror in general. Jenova is a big part of it. But so is the pure symbolic meaning of Sephiroth. Even if it is Jenova doing everything, I think what Sephiroth means to Cloud reinforces Jenova's creepiness even further. He gives Jenova a face. I find "both" of them fucking creepy (although it's essentially just Jenova). Then there is also all this creepy clone stuff, the fucked-up religious elements and all the "scientific" experiments. It's by far the creepiest Final Fantasy.

By the way, do you know if the English translation is any better than the German one? I think I'm downloading it for PC (because it's much more practical to play it on PC than on console tbh). But I can't decide if I should get it in German or in English.
