If ned is hufflepuff then so is Jon!!! I think both Jon and Ned possess certain traits that are indicative for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, but Jon strikes me as a bit more impulsive and less duty- and honour-bound than Ned, especially in ADwD (that's basically what got him killed, he also fucked Ygritte). Ned will always do his duty, no matter what, and I'd say that's a very characteristic Hufflepuff trait. A Gryffindor would have gone to his death with his head held high, but Ned confessed to his "crimes", because despite all his bravery and sense of honour, he wasn't stupid enough to throw away his own life (and the lives of his daughters) for something as meaningless as pride.

I want to type a several paragraphs long post on this, but I hate to do it on my phone so I just say this: I'm sorry Basil, but @fireandblood is right. Catelyn is the hufflepuffiest Hufflepuff to ever walk on this good earth.

I just realized that I'm totally like Littlefinger in my unhealthy obsession with Catelyn.

I find it kinda interesting that all three of us have women as our favourite ASoIaF-characters, particularly Catelyn and Sansa, since they are both rather controversial within the fandom. Yep, Catelyn is definitely a gay icon.

I agree with Basil list in general. (And I'm also too lazy to type everything on my phone. )

Currently on The Half-Blood Prince, the last chapter I read was the one in which Harry drinks Felix Felicis to get Slughorn's memory. Good book, not my favourite, but the stuff with Dumbledore and all the flashbacks is incredible. Yeah, Harry can be rather stubborn, which makes him a bit annoying. I like him, but why does he never listen to Hermione? She's always right about pretty much everything, his life would be so much easier.

I only have the time to read on the train these days, though which makes me sad because there are a few points in book 7 I like to sob at (Dobby mostly) and I won't really be able to do that on the train

@fireandblood Capslock Harry was the worst! He was a whiny little bitch in OotP. I love that book, but he was.
@lauryacarax I'll probably watch it because it's from the HP universe, but I'm not getting excited for it yet or anything. I bought her Tales of Beedle the Bard book, and I have yet to read it. I'm bad with her side stories.

I'm getting near the end of my re-read and as usual, I'm getting super-blue about it and immersing myself in loads of HP media to make myself feel better. I wonder how depressed I'll be if I ever get to finish ADoS

Btw: What do you all think about the upcoming Fantastic Beasts prequel? On the fence, on one hand, I love the Harry Potter world and I'm glad they are making more movies without rebooting the original franchise (for now), but David Yates is directing, and I don't like his style at all.

Me too, and my first impression is that WB is just milking the franchise for all its worth. I'd be more interested about a prequel following the Marauders, or the OotP's first war with Voldy, or even Dumbledore/Grindlewald's tragic love affair and Grindlewald's rise to power, characters we actually know about. But this is the only other HP-verse book JKR wrote so they're gonna make it into a film just for that reason. (I haven't read Fantastic Beasts and was never really planning to.)

Yeah, this was my impression too and the fact that they want to do three movies throws me off a bit. But we will see, I did like the setting from what they published.

Isn't the Fantastic Beasts only some kind of shit Rowling used to make more money. Like ASOIAF cooking book.

I think she wrote that book to collect money for the Comic Relief charity organization. She also wrote another one called Quidditch Through the Ages for that same purpose.

The three movies part is really mind boggling, and I thought stretching The Hobbit into a trilogy was bad.

It's not going to be an adaptation of Fantastic Beasts, though. I think it's going to be Newt's adventures while he was writing the book. I haven't read it myself (although I have it, along with Quidditch Through the Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard (which I have read)), but I'm not going to write it off just yet when it could end up being really awesome and Rowling herself has written the script. Plus, I would love to watch a movie about the great-great-grandfather of Luna's husband
