I think Lena has a great shot of actually winning with that tape, unless they fuck up and submit, idk, episode 7 or something. Does anyone have a list of episode submissions? I know the Emmys released their ballots the other day confirming who had been submitted (Lena, Natalie, Sophie, Carice and Maisie on the actress side), but that didn't include the tape they were actually submitting  If HBO does not submit this episode for Lena, they would have lost their minds. I am surprised Natalie is being submitted. Not that she wasn't good but her screen time was so minimal. |

BTW just to give credit where it's due this lady was Cersei's body double in the Walk, so while we're rightly praising Lena for her great performance, Rebecca van Cleave deserves a ton of credit too for actually braving that shoot in front of all of those extras.  to her. Holy shit would that be a difficult gig. |

I think they blew it big time with the double's appearance. Now people keep saying Cersei is hot. Um....not really the point of the scene and it would be a good opportunity to show how much she ruined her body with drinking. but nope, let's make her hot. |

Of course people would say she's hot - they never showed her getting fat or ugly on the show. For that matter, none of the actors are nearly as ugly as described in the books for the most part - like Tyrion and Brienne for example.
I'll bet a majority of fans didn't even know it was a body double in the first place and just assumed that was Lena anyways so they couldn't really make her look that different from Lena's thin profile or it would have been too out of place don't you think?

I will add though, I think they should have at least given her some stretch marks and saggy lower belly because she's a woman with three grown children. Not a very accurate representation of what a woman's body looks like after bearing multiple children.  |

Yeah, the body double was noticeably younger than Lena but I guess most people who are willing to walk around naked in front of a ton of people are more likely to be younger.
Still, I think Ms. van Cleave needs some credit for what she did. If Lena gets an Emmy she should thank her at least.

But really I think it's just because models are more likely to be comfortable being naked. In the casting call linked on WOTW back in the day for the body double, there was no beauty qualification, though I suppose someone at least comparable to Lena in looks was necessary. The scene was by no means supposed to be titillating though and people who took it as such were probably getting off on the humiliation aspect of it too. So fuck 'em.

One was a poorly-conceived bit of comic relief the other was a huge, powerful scene.
That's like saying I shouldn't take AFFC seriously because it has a character named Shitmouth in it.
