I'm torn between the
- idiocy of Brienne abandoning her post - idiocy of killing Stannis off screen - idiocy of Ellaria and SSnakes not caring Lannisters have Trystane and offing Myrcella anyways
That's a tough one.

On the last one, I don't think Ellaria and the Sandsnakes give a shit about Trystane's fate and may be counting on him being in danger/getting killed in order to incite the war they have stated they want.

I don't see why Brienne abandoning her post was idiocy. She had a much higher chance of fulfilling her oath to kill Stannis than she did of keeping Sansa safe in that moment, after weeks/months of waiting

Not suprised at all. I literally guessed the whole episode. God, its just stale at this point. When I get my hopes up, everything flips and that thought in the back of your head, that 'worst thing that could happen' always happens. Remember when things like Eddard's execution happened, and people werent expecting it? We didnt want it to happen because we wanted him to live And then Varys when he popped up in Mereen? And we didnt want it to happen because it means Tyrion will be trapped in the Mereenese knot all next series and that interesting Varys KL plot with Kevan and GMP wont happen. Yeah. Few suprises. Many dissapointments. Only pleasent suprise was Reek throwing Myranda off the catwalk. Everything else was blatantly obvious from the get go. I remember sitting there thinking, what if Ellaria's lips are poisoned and then thinking, nah, thats dumb. No way theyd do the bullshit 'antidote' thing twice...

Okay. I use this to excuse the show a bit as well. But they tied up the episode so poorly. If time and money was a problem, save it for next series or dont do it. This is my one worry for characters like LSH, Young Griff or Wyman Manderly if they put them in and Euron next series, that they would be squeezed in so hard that 90% of the good stuff is squeezed out in favour of what D&D consider 'relevant'.

The other two dragons getting out and deciding to eat as many citizens of Mereen as possible might be a good reason for Tyrion to abandon the city.
