You don't think there will be a consequence coming? I'm pretty sure that's exactly what's going to happen (eventually). I appreciate you feel it's disgusting, I just don't agree. Shitty things happen to people in this story, that's kind of George's thing. No, don't mix George in this. This is D&D doing this to Sansa. I really hope someone asks George what he thinks of this particular change. And no, based on everything I've seen from the show - no consequence to Jaime/Cersei scene, brushing off Sansa/Tyrion's marriage with "no consummation" line and LF's plan and generally his actions this season I'm almost certain there will be no scene depicting Sansa's pain and heartbreak over this particular event. GrrM already has addressed the change with his standard "How many children did Scarlett O'Hara have?" question regarding adaptations. I imagine he'll never say more on the subject than that.
We will see Sansa's reaction to it though. That's what will motivate her want to escape and opt out of LF's plan by enlisting Reek to help her escape with BriPod.

I'd argue that throwing a random girl in the scene that the audience doesn't really know much about or has that much attachment to makes it far more gratuitous which the show is accused of all the time. They are being sensitive to the fact that it's Sansa so they are not going to make the scene graphic or dwell on it for too long a period. They definitely have license to be far more graphic if they wanted to. HBO shows like Six Feet Under, Girls, Boardwalk Empire, and Oz have all had extremely graphic sex and rape scenes that Game of Thrones have never approached. So yes, they are using restraint. Clearly. You seem to think that the problem most people have is that they're going to portray a rape scene. That's not the issue. I don't have an issue with them portraying rape at all. I don't like to watch it, but equally I don't like to see people get beheaded or have their guts spilled all over the place either. I touched on this earlier, but I think as a rule, sexual violence shouldn't be approached unless there's a real purpose to it because the general attitude towards rape in today's world is still quite problematic. I saw someone on another forum argue that a woman who was raped on a beach, in broad daylight with hundreds of witnesses should have "taken more care of herself to make sure she wasn't raped". That's a problem. People don't realise just how traumatising rape can be. So I don't think it should be touched on screen unless it has a purpose. It shouldn't be gratuitous at all. And you know, this upcoming scene might not be gratuitous. It might not even be rape (although I doubt it), but given the circumstances I don't think there's anything wrong with at least having concerns. Sansa was not raped in the books. A rape is not essential for her character development. Getting raped would have a big impact on book Sansa and it should have a big impact on show Sansa and if it actually has a purpose and a place in her future development, I might be ok with it, but they've mishandled this character so badly in the past already (I know the word "agency" is made fun of on here a lot, but they really did rob Sansa of a lot of her agency in KL), why should I be optimistic now? And yes, it was worse in the book, but I wish people would stop using that to excuse the show. Reading about something horrible and seeing it are two completely different things. They are not comparable.

I'm so fucking angry right now.
I still had hope up until the point where Ramsay asked about her being virgin and asked if she was lying. That's when I knew it was going to be terrible.

BTW just as a head's up the horror in the scene isn't conveyed through disgusting imagery or by anything that we see in particular. It's all down to the performances and the music and implication rather than all-out disgusting imagery. Basically we see two long, harrowing reaction shots and then we get the credits. So as you predicted Podeswa handled it very tastefully.

I had to watch the scene before hand and I'm absolutely outraged at the moment. Jesus Christ that was horrible. Most unpleasant scene in Game of Thrones history. Truly appalling.

Sophie seems to enjoy difficult scenes, I guess as an actress they are interesting, probably help her put her acting chops to the test.
