There must be a Winterfell scene this episode and Brienne has to do something. She's been criminally underused and I hope her sole achievement this season isn't to kill Stannis. I would love if, instead of helping Sansa escape, she helped her open the gates for Stannis, sending Pod to warn him before the battle. I hope Brienne puts Sansa and her oath to Cat before her thirst for vengeance and tries to ally with Stannis. Yeah I really have NO idea wtf they're doing with that. But it looks like as of ep 9 Stannis still isn't at Winterfell yet. He's close enough to send Ramsay though. Burning his tents will obviously slow him down but maybe not much. It's not like its a battle, its just Ramsay being a little bitch. But where does Brienne fit in all this? She wouldn't even know Stannis is coming (or maybe she would from the townspeople?). So basically she's just sitting there until Sansa escapes and they happen to run into her or she finds out Stannis is coming and sneaks in maybe? But yeah with 2 episodes left somethings gotta happen. It'll be rushed that's for sure.

I realize she spent a lot of time mucking around in the Riverlands in the books so they are trying to give her something more useful to do, but damn... staring at Winterfell from the distance for the past three episodes isn't much better. She and Pod have had some good moments (the horse chase scene was good as was her exposition/backstory by the campfire) but I would have thought they'd be doing something more by episode 8. On top of everything else they're going to cram into these last two episodes ... I'm just going to keep faith they'll do a good job where she fits into the puzzle. Now that we got the Valyrian steel reveal on the Others, I'm pretty confident Brienne's going to live and not die at Winterfell as many have predicted. She needs to fight the Others with Jon and anyone else who has a Valyrian steel blade!
