I think the Emmys have changed their voting system this year. Before winners were decided by assigning each category a relatively small pool of voters (I think at most 100?) And this year they're doing the "everyone votes in every category" thing so the winners are likely to be more populous and less WTF as they sometimes tend to be. I thought everyone voted in every category before? I know they altered the Guest Actor rules this year with the stipulation that they have to appear in less than half of the episodes. Probably because OINTB got so damn many for essentially supporting actresses last year.

They did it (I assume) to ensure that the people voting for the winners had actually viewed all the tapes because that is obviously something they can enforce fairly easily if the numbers are small.

Pedro's not helping? I think they broke up some time last year. So if he is the dad then, yeah, I guess he's out of the picture. Pedro is in China and has been for a while filming The Great Wall. Not that it's fair to speculate but I don't think he's the father (yes, I follow him on IG where he is documenting filming the movie). @kairos, in my book this is the season that GoT deserves least to win for...however given the other nominees I think this year might be their best shot to win best drama. I think it's between GoT, Mad Men and Better Call Saul. Mad Men has the farewell lap going for it. Better Call Saul is actually a good spinoff of Breaking Bad, so it has the BB attachment to it. Downton Abbey shouldn't be there. Homeland, I don't watch as I don't have Showtime. I've heard this season was an improvement over last season. Orange is the New Black is nominated for season 2...which aired summer 2014 and was a good season, it might be the surprise winner this year.

Was that by choice or HBO didn't submit him? Is it true that actors who submit themselves have to pay for their Emmy campaigns? I believe Natalie Dormer submitted herself for seasons 3, 4 and 5--HBO did not submit her.

Dillane could've submitted himself of course but I don't think he really cares too much about such things.

Stephen doesn't have to submit, the Emmy is his by right.

So Emilia submitted The Dance of Dragons, which isn't surprising. Still think she was better in House of Black and White, Kill the Boy and Hardhome.

No, Hardhome where his Dany scenes were actually his best work of the season. Still, of the ones submitted it should've been Kit the Emmy people went with.

Emilia seems to be riding on the fact that Dany does cool things instead of her actually giving an excellent performance. (I did like her in DwD, but I didn't think it was Emmy worthy)

(I did like her in DwD, but I didn't think it was Emmy worthy) I have to agree with this at least from the perspective of why someone should win an Emmy. Emilia gets to "ride" (har har) on the coattails of some excellent actors and one of them's a dragon! Her pairings with Iain Glen, Jason Momoa, Ian McElhinney, Michiel Huisman and Peter Dinklage all gave her a lot more acting support than she would have had on her own without them. Seems she's betting on the great scene, special effects and other actors to support her nomination. She *has* improved acting wise over the years and it's a "supporting" nomination so I'm cool with it but I think Drogon deserves lead actor nom. dragon2

Her best season acting-wise was season 1 by far. I actually thought she was mediocre at best in 5x09. Just look at her face when she's riding Drogon. Zero emotions. Nevertheless, she was great in a lot of scenes throughout the series, but S1 was definitely the best. Now if you want an actor who has been gradually improving since the first episode, then look no further: Kit Harington is your guy.
