Have you guys seen critics' reviews? They are pretty brutal. Any word from D&D or does Hibberd only question them about easy stuff/get vague answers?

Why the hate for "where are my dragons"? It's an annoying moment. Sort of like a spoiled kid moment. It came off as more childish than threatening. The rest of the Qarth stuff was good though.

As of this point in time, we rate it as a 6.9 while Westeros rates it as 4.8, which is the lowest rating of an episode they have ever gotten. I'm sure it's the same for us here, but we're relatively new compared to them so it's not incredibly monumental.
ETA: "At this point in time" is where we have 34 votes and they have 688 votes.

Why the hate for "where are my dragons"? It was just a bit ridiculous. Not helped by how poorly adapted Qarth was

I agree that Qarth was poor, but I thought it was pretty poor in the books as well, the House of the Undying aside. At least Qarth in the show had some nice scenes between Jorah and Dany.

Not helped by how poorly adapted Qarth was I still think Qarth was the lowest point of the show, worse than Dorne is this season. At least Dorne has had like 10 minutes of screentime so far. Also, Jaime and Bronn can be quite fun and Doran, Areo and Trystane haven't disappointed me yet. Qarth, however, was just a bunch of B-movie villains (Pyat Pree was just awful) and Dany being an annoying prick ("I didn't come here to argue grammar" ), and that storyline was in several episodes.

And when she arrives in Westeros to face-off with Stannis, she'll certainly have to

If they put all the house of the undying stuff in the show, they would spoil a lot of upcoming stuff, like the red wedding. Also the flaming sword king would cause a lot of confusion, since Stannis' flaming sword was extremely under used on the show, virtually unused. Though it makes sense. Qarth was so so, but at the time I watched it, I had not read the books so I just looked at it as filler, which it basically was.

Yes but we are elite, they are just whiners I bet if you counted, there are actually more relevant on topic posts in one ep subboard here than all 10 subboards for episodes there

IMO, this was nowhere near a 'bad episode'. The pacing was uneven, and the Dornish scene was hilariously campy, but the writing overall was strong, the acting was stronger and the plot progressing was good.
People have their own opinions on how to rate things, of course...but my personal opinion should be 'how did it feel overall?' And overall, this was a good (but not amazing) episode.

Qarth is only 4 chapters in the book. And as you said one is the HotU, which is brilliant. Qarth isn't poor at all in the book imo, it was the show trying to stretch an entire season out of such a small amount of source material. That's when we get crap like the dragon napping and Doreah/Xaro. Just terrible. They should stick with the books. I'd have been fine with Dany only having been in a few episodes over what we got.

A solid 8. Everything was really well done, even if it might have been uncomfortable to watch. Except the Sand Snakes. Goodness but it is disappointing how that story line is going.
