Yeah, they should've avoided having a fight there. If even pure dialogue scenes usually take a week to shoot, they should've known that filming a fight scene involving half a dozen people with different fighting styles would require a lot of takes, and a single week is not enough for that. They're on a tight enough schedule the way it is though. They barely wrapped up filming in time this year. Yeah, I feel I'm being too harsh on the actors and even on the stunt doubles if that's what they're using there. Even the best stunt doubles and coreographers wouldn't nail a fight scene in a couple of takes. This is clearly a production problem more than anything, but it was still caused by the bad decision of trying to film a complex fight scene in a week.

Dorne definitely would have benefited from more time. It's becoming more apparent then ever that they are pressed for time in the off season.

I just finished the episode. I expected something terrible after seeing people's reactions but the only thing that really sucked was Dorne. Doran and Areo are just fine and Bronn & Jaime are entertaining though they seem to have no plan whatsoever. But Ellaria, the sand snakes and that fighting scene just made me go I think Tyrion and Jorah were good, I liked it when they discussed Jeor and Daenerys. Jorah's reaction to his fathers death was very touching.Tyrion made some good points about Dany as a potential ruler of Westeros. I also think Dinklage's acting was great when the slavers were threatening Tyrion's life. Arya's stuff was good too. I loved Sansa telling Myranda she could not frighten her. The wedding itself was well done too, the setting was beautiful. Honestly, I'm not that upset about the rape scene. Of course it was terrible and made me uncomfortable. I'm very glad they didn't show anything more. But after it became clear Sansa would marry Ramsey I was expecting this, because that's what Ramsey would do. What makes the scene easier to handle is that I believe Sansa will rise again have her revenge.

The Sand Snakes hate bandwagon keeps on rolling. I was willing to give them a chance in the previous episode, but they didn't improve a single bit. I really wish I could like it, but I was expecting this since they are terrible characters in the books too.

I think the casting was kind of spotty with the SS. Henwick is fine, Sellers is ok, but Castle-Hughes so far leaves something to be desired.

It's kind of hilarious that KCH has been so bad since she's the only one of them who's a known entity, with an Oscar nom to boot

I really wish I could like it, but I was expecting this since they are terrible characters in the books too. I find it totally bemusing. I guess it mostly shows the high standard to which the show is held to, as well as the intense scrutiny that comes with a huge fanbase on top of the already enormous book following, but I just fail to understand the neverending barrage of criticism towards them. I enjoyed the scene yesterday: I thought the setting was spectacular and the visual style of it was really different, in a good way. It was pretty simply a fight scene - a confrontation that had been built towards (albeit not throughly enough). Yet everywhere I look the entire storyline isn't just being criticised but it's being ripped apart. To me it's just been fine. I'm not claiming they've nailed it or anything, but I compare it to 90% of other shows out there and it still holds up favourably. Hell it's much more polished than the mess of a storyline we had in Qarth during season 2. I feel like anyone who wants to stick up for it is just drowned out by the bandwagon of juvenile insults: it's not just here but on every fansite I visit. It's like I'm a bloody leper Stone Man. My name is breakfest and I'm a Sand Snake apologist.

The Sand Snakes would be great in a show like STARZ's Spartacus, and I fucking loved that show, but GoT is a much richer and better written show.

Yeah I mean they're pretty simple characters, so far there's very little characterisation there. But they were good fighters, as kind of annoying as Obara has been I thought she looked damn good with a spear, and they're currently slightly less cartoonish than in the books. So far they've just been young daughters following a pretty stupid revenge plan which is going to get put in it's place very soon. Hopefully we'll see them come into their own when they have clearer, more complex tasks.
Also fuck it, I'm changing my avatar.
