I think the most important thing about this episode is that we got us some Myranda backstory. Who had kennelmaster's daughter in the pool? What does that mean? A betting pool. Like people will place bets on what the outcome of an event will be, the "pool" is all of the guesses people make.

BTW Dany saying "Round up each of the leaders of Meereen's great families and bring them to me," and Hizdahr's response, "But I'm the leader of my family..." immediately reminded me of this:
Love your new avatar! Roose totally rocking that new outfit!

I thought Valyria was magically spooky - beautiful in an odd and sad way. It must have been a place of grandeur in its day. Watching it for the second go-round, I found a lot more humor in the Bolton Dinner scene. Fat Walda might be my new favorite person, her facial expressions were wonderful! Myranda is scary-skinny, as some others have mentioned. When she was silhouetted in the window, it looked like a broken bone was jutting out at her hip, and every rib showed. On my second watch, I noticed that the shot from the top of the broken tower looking down on the top of her and Sansa's heads showed an extremely wide "part" in her hair, and I wondered if her hair is falling out, as it usually will with a serious eating disorder. Add to that the fact that TV/film makes people look about 5 - 10 pounds heavier that they really are, and it's even more alarming. And the broken tower. How sad to look up and see the window Bran was pushed out of. Loved Tyrion's "Long, sullen silences. And an occasional punch in the face. The Mormont way."

The choice from director Jeremy Podeswa to shoot parts of Sansa and Myranda’s conversation by the Broken Tower from directly above them as a haunting callback to Bran’s fall, which the show smartly never mentions directly but obviously evokes in that scene (which I thought was going to be at the Heart Tree when we first saw Sansa).

I have to agree naked Myranda's actress was way too thin. Ugh. Contrary to some opinions a few pages back though, I do not believe it's a 'standard' by which shows encourage women into at all, especially not this one. Carice is absolutely beautiful and she's not too thin - her nude scene with Jon was beautiful in stark (har har har) contrast to that scene with Ramsay. Maybe they wanted that jarring thin look for a reason but I highly doubt they asked her or encouraged her to be that thin. It was ugly. I don't think they needed Myranda to look that thin just to get the point across - it was ugly by nature of Ramsay and the jealous words of Myranda. Also, I was reminded a tad bit of Shae in there, since Ramsay had to put Myranda in her place that she's now a 'nobody' since he has to marry Sansa and "make a Bolton dynasty" blah blah blah!

Where was the Stannis swag walk in his cloak? We need to gif that immediately. The Cloak that was Promised! I think this espisode was the closest Stephen Dillane ever got to top billing. He was the fourth name, just behind Kit Harington. JFC I may pass out when I see it

So Braavos and Dorne in the opening credits for what? They don't just change the credits simply because something isn't in that particular episode. I mean, the Watchers on the Wall was only at Castle Black but they didn't just do The Wall in the beginning. They are only going to change the credit sequence if a new and important place comes up. They didn't used to. Seasons 1-3 , I think, they always had KL, Winterfell, The Wall and something in Essos (those are always 'Map References') , but the maps featured places where a filmed scene took place (of course sometimes a place like CB stood for Beyond the Wall too). Since somewhere in season 4 due to budget or something else they have a mixed bag, for instance the Eyrie just vanishes even when where is a definite scene there. So it didn't used to be that way.

How fast does greyscale spread? How bad will Jorah be when they get to Essos? Last week Shireen was said to have an 'arrested' case , some Maester (who?) stopped it. I don't remember this from the books, do I? No one in team Dany, in the books, had to deal with it, did they? I think I see where this is going. I Tyrion going to replace Jorah, Selmy, Grey Worm and maybe Daario? That's some streamlining!

Gosh I really need to find a way to find this Winterfell storyline more interesting or else I feel like this season will be another where I have to FF through episodes a lot. I just don't find Ramsay interesting, I prfer the Roose patented brand of more sophisticated evil, the Ramsay stuff just bores me. I just can't get into the North, if Roose was on his own I think I'd like it a lot more. I did think the Brienne stuff was an improvement for her from last season, his time she at least seems to be trying to find out whats best to do and not take no for an answer and help Sansa. Whether she'll actually get there in time is anyones guess, but her presence might put the cat amongst the pigeons enough to split the Bolton's attention and allow Sansa some time to get away with help.
Loved the Stannis stuff, and I'm glad he takes his family with him, leaving them at the Wall with no Commander there would have gotten mess quick. Plus it also means his heir is with him so he can teach her and she can see war, also Mel has her on hand for her precious Kingsblood if the worst comes to the very worst so its probably win win for everyone involved.
I enjoyed Dany as well, this is clearly her mistake portion but I did like it was swift and got out of the way quick. Plus I actually liked this idea more than the torturing and investigating in the books. But I thought her Hizdahr choice was very quick and seemed to come out of nowhere. I also liked the Jorah and Tyron stuff it all looked beautiful, but I'm not that keen on yet another character gobbling up someone else's storyline. I hope greyscale is going to turn out to be very important so there is an actual point to someone having it and bringing it to Westeros.

I thought when Ramsay got to going about Reek in front of Sansa Roose would have told him to shut up. Later Roose chides Ramsay about it, but thought it would have been in stronger terms. I mean even stronger terms than it was. By the by all this Theon-Sansa interaction sets up a lot of future stuff, 'cause I think Theon is gonna be jarred into telling Sansa that Bran and Rickon are alive, precipitating a lot of fireworks!
I am ready to give Iwan Rheon an Emmy for being a Major Loon.

Rhaegal and Viserion getting more screen time this season. Well it was mother's day.
I liked that Tyrion doesn't say anything when he see O'l Drogon.

Also, it looks like Grey Worm will survive. So, where is he when Daznak's pit happens? I still don't understand what happens to the Unsullied if Grey Worm dies, cast a new commander of the Unsullied? I don't think D&D cotton to new castings this far in. The Unsullied become irrelevant ? That would be odd.

The dinner scene with Ramsay was appropriately awkward and creepy. I still don't understand why Roose indulges Ramsay in his appalling behavior like that. To me it lessens his power to let that little twit be a complete jackass in front of Sansa but I guess he didn't want to make the situation worse? This was the worst episode of the season for me, usually I love Cogman's episodes and this one did not do it for me. I totally agree with you about Roose indulging Ramsey. He's the one in charge and he's smart enough to know that Sansa doesn't care either way if he tells Ramsey to stop it or not. It does lessen his power every time he lets Ramsey say and do what he wants and then tells him in private, "No, Ramsey, don't do that." He reminds me of a passive mother at the playground whose kid is tormenting other kids and she says in sing song voice, "No, Special Snowflake, we don't do that." Roose needs to snatch him up and smack him around a little. This is the same man that was trying to get Robb Stark to flay people a couple of seasons back, right? Alfie Allen is the best acting in Winterfell. He's so good, even when he doesn't have a lot of lines-the facial expressions, the fear, the trembling. I really do hope he goes on to big things after Thrones. Seeing him cry in the previews and having a good idea as to why that is broke my heart. I liked Sansa's snarky remarks to Ramsey and Walda at dinner, "This is my home, it is not strange to me. The people in it are." I don't give Walda or her child much chance of survival. That child is replacing Domeric Bolton from the books. Did we really need a scene of Stannis reminding the viewers as to who Sam's father is? That was an unnecessary info dump especially since Stannis has been on the wall for at least 6 episodes now and had to have run into Sam at some point. Though next to Sansa's snarky remarks at the dinner from Hell, Stannis wins the night for me for his grammar correction. I still don't understand how Greyworm survived a sword through the stomach and his and Missandei's scenes stop time for me. I can't see how the dragon's BBQ-ing people is going to win the folks of Meereen over to Dany, even if she does marry Hizdar. Emilia Clarke remains flat as ever and Kit Harington wasn't that great this episode either (the scene with Tormund was good). I don't think this is going to be a good time for Jon to leave the Wall since no one is happy with him, but he has no choice. My favorite scenes of the episode were the end with the Stone Men. And seeing it revealed that Jorah has Greyscale (hello Jon Connington/Victorian replacement). Now here is what I don't understand about the show version of Greyscale. Shireen and Stannis says she's cured from it, that she will always have the markings but it won't spread. This episode seems to suggest it's contagious. I know Tyrion's not going to get it but it seems like Jorah is a epidemic waiting to happen. And while I am happy there are Northmen who remember (and not Ramsey) wouldn't the old lady in Winterfell know Sansa is in danger just by having to marry into the Bolton family? No candle for alert should be needed? Was that the memo from Brienne? Interesting thing: Roose never calls Sansa by name, just the Stark girl. He reminds me of Hank's father on King of the Hill who called Peggy "Hank's wife."
