I had no idea what IWC was. Just went there and lol at the "Is Linda Coming" thread! "Is she always on her period" haha.

Ah, but we're at the point now where it is impossible for him to finish both books before the show ends. Perhaps that took the wind entirely out of his sails (assuming he had sails up to that point). Also, HBO seem to essentially be satisfied with the notes he's given them, and they're cutting so much I can't see them using much TWOW material, so not too much pressure there. The publishers essentially let him do whatever he wants now, he makes them so much money they can't complain too much about the pace. The fans are the main pressure, but I don't get the feeling that worries him too much. After all, there are still people who tell him to take his time, even at this point Season 6 is apparently all on WoW. |

No doubt, we are getting Winds content in Season 6, but I wonder if it's more of general "end-game" outlines GRRM gave to the showrunners not separate material for TWOW and ADOS.

GRRM has always said he doesn't want someone to tell his story, if he dies it dies with him, so hopefully it is very different... |

I think Martin will get this out next year. Not sure when but the fact that he's skipping writing for season 6 AND cancelling Comicons - we know how much he loves those1 - I think he's really pushing to have it out before next season airs. We'll see if he manages.

All my years of obsessing over ASOIAF and I've never heard of this??!!! Why did Linda shut them down? She didn't like what they were saying about poor George? |

Also, puh-lenty of people there liked AFFC. I am not one of them. Linda had one version of the site nuked for "copyright" issues and alleged harassment of Martin. Untrue on both counts. Anyway, I assume the "copyright" issue was fabricated because the site quoted GURM from the NAB and eviscerated his posts. Mrs. GURM once threatened legal action against anyone who quoted from GURM's blog; his inner circle is filled with lovely people, isn't it? Anyway, freeforums (proboards? AIMOO?) couldn't be bothered to check out the accusations and shut it down. |

I think she is a dope. A leech. A racist. A hypocrite. Lots of things. Doesn't mean I hate her (others might, didn't poll them). She is wonderfully entertaining and the fandom would be diminished if she weren't around. ETA: Here's a recentish TUMBLR post. "Oh, look, there’s the black supremacist again. But I think someone needs to educate her (it?) that “cracker” isn’t really that viable outside of an American context. I like them, though, especially with a nice cheddar cheese on. So, she invited the supremacist poster to snack on Negro testicles. |

I do admit some of the things she says I can sympathize with, but not in the way she goes about it. (i.e. the slapping of labels onto people who disagree with you, i.e. you are racist because you don't like...., or you are sexist because....). Otherwise.....she seems a bit like a loose cannon. As a historian.....the idea of imposing our beliefs on a much earlier civilization is not reasonable. BUT again her approach is.....just wow..... Thanks for the link. I never paid much attention to that. I visit Westeros and now here during my "downtime" but very little else. |
