Interesting, I hadn't seen that before. That young lady's got a stellar future brewing, and well deserved. She's an extraordinary young actress.

I can't wait! There have been people who have gotten photos of Maisie, Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi filming this week

Jenna Louise just announced that she's leaving this season. She was kind of coy on exactly when, though. I would have assumed she would leave at the end, but her wording made it sound like maybe she doesn't. In any case, I'm praying to all the gods that Maisie can replace her She could totally do it. I don't think the DW schedule would typically conflict with GoT.

Maisie would make a good companion, so if she could make it work between DW and GoT, I'd be good with that.
Jenna Coleman was on Nick Grimshaw's radio show yesterday and she did confirm that her departure is before the Christmas Special. She will be playing Queen Victoria for an 8 part ITV miniseries.
And get hype...this photo was released this morning (or afternoon, depending on where you are)

From the previews, she does not seem too far out of time from Westeros

True, but in another preview she was wearing something more futuristic which is weird. Based on the title of her episodes (The Girl Who Died and The Woman Who Lived) I'm going to speculate that she dies in the first episode and the Doctor runs into another incarnation of her in another time. Kind of like what happened with Clara.

Good point, @fireandblood! Call back to Clara. Which is interesting because Capaldi's doctor, who should have memories of the other doctors never seems to recall Clara's previous deaths...

Never seen Dr. Who. The English seem to like it. But they also like blood pudding.

Can Maisie please be the new companion? There's supposedly not going to be a full series next year, so she could totally fit it in around GoT

Can Maisie please be the new companion? There's supposedly not going to be a full series next year, so she could totally fit it in around GoT I would not object to that at all. As long as they did not make her character repeat the same formula that Amy Pond and Clara Oswald had with the Doctor "semi-boyfriend/semi best friend". And they remember her characterization...something I feel Clara has suffered from over time. I am curious to see what Maisie's character is up to in the next episode and what it means for her character to be a hybrid. It does not appear, from previews, that Clara appears at all or she has a very small role. It seems to be all Maisie and Peter. Rumor has it the next season of Doctor Who is either going to be a series of specials or a split series in the Fall of 2016 and Spring 2017.

It was a really good episode last night. I don't know that I want Maisie's character as a companion (after seeing last night's episode, I kind of changed my mind on Maisie's character as a companion) but running into the Doctor from time to time...that would be fab. Her showing up in the photo at the end was downright spooky.
I am hearing Maisie might appear in episode 10.
The Radio Times is reporting that Jenna Coleman asked Steven Moffat to not have the new companion appear while Jenna was still on the show. Whether or not he honored her request remains to be seen.
