When DaveyJoe got into Goblin Slayer before Berserk. I'm somewhat familiar with Berserk but I haven't watched it because the opinions seem to be very mixed among anime fans. I've read that the animation is very poor and the crew/director are inexperienced and couldn't handle such an ambitious project so the series failed to live up to the manga. So I've been for hoping for a Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood situation where the show gets redone in a more satisfactory way. However, I've read that Dark Souls, my favorite video game series, is heavily influenced by Berserk so I like to think a Berserk anime would be right up my alley if done properly. The thing with Berserk is that it's almost virtually impossible to capture the spirit of the original manga regardless whether it can have a Brotherhood method. Yes it could follow the story faithfully, but you will be missing out the fantastic artwork that Kentaro Miura put his hard work into and several arcs that is important to the character, but the anime will likely skip those in favor to sticking to the main story. In addition, the manga is not even finished. Kentaro Miura has been working on the series since 1991 and it hasn't reach the climax yet due to hiatuses and all. It's not extreme as GRRM with Asoiaf because it at least made some progress every year and Miura is only around 50 years old, but to say you can wait for a proper anime adaptation would be too naive. The trilogy films are okay, not as bad as the 2016 and 2017 sequels. The 90s anime is very good; animation is slightly outdated but it captures the spirit of the greatest arc. But at the end of the day, you are better off reading the manga (physical volumes are available in the West). I know I sound like those annoying "read the book" fans, but trust me once you read them you will know how much you are missing out on Berserk and understand why it cannot be properly adopted to an anime

Singer of Death I have it on my 'to watch' list, along with Dr Stone. My friend who has read the manga for both said they're pretty good.

Anyone read the new Attack on Titan chapter? That moment with Zeke and Grisha literally changes everything. Grisha can see Zeke in his reality, even though he and Eren are looking back into his memories. If Titan shifters can communicate backwards with past inheritors as well as forward, it opens up a ridiculous amount of possibility, and also explains how the owl knew about Mikasa and Armin all those years before they were born. But it doesn't explain whose memories they were, which is even crazier. How far back will Eren's influence go? Also, this is officially my new favourite panel in the manga. It shows the memories of all the people we know of who have been in control of the Titan's eren now holds. His own, Grisha's memories, Eren Krueger "The Owl", Freida Reiss... Pretty sure one of those even belongs to the Tybur sister who held the War Hammer Titan before Eren. I love all the little callbacks to old chapters like this, and I even love that one of Eren's memories is of the original, long dead Levi Squad. It's attention to detail that makes this story great. ALSO there's one panel in Grisha's memories of him nervously trying to avoid the secret police, and one of them is Kenny fucking Ackerman. Have I mentioned how great this fucking chapter was yet?

I just picked up Season 3 part 1 on Blu-Ray, looking forward to watching it. I checked the disks this time to make sure I don't accidentally start halfway through the season.

I decided to watch Death Note, I watched the first couple of episodes years ago and just left it in the back burner for no real reason. I enjoyed the story a lot until a certain point, then I felt like it dragged and it wasn't half as interesting. The premise is really interesting as are the main characters, and I understand why it became a classic and why fans hated the botched Netflix film (that apparently is getting a second part, somehow). Of course, the part I loved was when L was alive and Light's frenemy. Their interactions are priceless because they are always trying to guess what the other wants in order to be three steps ahead, but at the same time they have genuine respect for each other and their intelligence means no one else can really understand them like they do each other.
I honestly thought than once Light got the death note and his memories back, he would be conflicted about killing L because, as much as L was an obstacle, he was also the only true friend Light had. Part of the reason the anime drags after L dies is because neither N nor Mello have a real relationship with Light, and because of that, their game of cat and mouse feels less personal and interesting.
I also feel a bit weird bout a couple of scenes that have really sexist comments because IDK if it's just portraying sexism as part of Japanese culture, or if they are there because the author thinks like that. The first one is when Light is being followed by and FBI agent and tricks him into believing he can't be Kira. The FBI's fiancée (an ex FBI agent herself) correctly points out that is too convenient that a set of events that exonerate Light just happened while he was under surveillance, and the guy basically tells her to shut up because her job now is to be his wife and tell him ho to impress her dad. Of course I felt quite happy when that FBI guy was killed by Light.
The other one happened much later, I don't remember it as well because it happened after L dies and my interest decreased, but it had to do with Misa being all a woman should be after she no longer has a death note so she has no clue who Light actually is or what he does but is still super in love with him and lets him treat her like dirt.
Overall the female characters are not treated very well and I can't help feel a bit upset about that.

I'm reviving this thread, lol. I watched Attack on Titan season 1 years ago but when season 2 came out, I just never watched it. Since the show is ending, I decided to rewatch season 1 and am now almost done season 2 (10 episodes in). I completely regret not watching it fully before. I'm so glad I rewatched season 1, there was so much I forgot. Season 2 is a bit nuts, since every other character is secretly a Titan now lol and the trailer spoiled so much.. like how there are Titans protecting the humans from other Titans. I'm 10 episodes in and this still hasn't been revealed, but was in the trailer.

I'm trying to get my friend to watch Darling in the Franxx with me so I sent her this rendition of the opening theme to show her how romantic the show is:

DOTA came out with an anime last year and I found it really good. I'm not sure if I'm biased by having 5,100 hours in the game but I showed it to a friend who has never played it and he loved it too. It's your typical fantasy anime setting but it turns some tropes on it's head - the Knight maybe isn't the most noble or brave, the Princess isn't the sweet innocent lady etc. The second season went a bit crazy and I loved it. It struggles a bit from pacing due to episode length constraints from Netflix. But I'd recommend it Some good voice actors too - Lara Pulver (Irene Adler from Sherlock), Troy Baker, Tony Todd, Yuri Lowenthal. Animated by Studio Mir (who did Legend of Korra)
