I just watched I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House and I am shook. A very slow film from the director of the Blackcoat's Daughter that is both unsettling and artistic. The mise-en-scene in this movie is fantastic, but its ambiguity and pacing is sure to frustrate many viewers. I got up at one point to lock my bedroom door and for the first time all year I think a movie might give me a nightmare. The best horror movies have a unique cinematic language, and this movie was very poetic in its narrative style, it kept me guessing and unnerved and I was almost annoyed when the credits started rolling, but I have a feeling that I'll be back watching it a second and third time to try to unravel the puzzle of a nightmare this movie left rattling around in my head. Did you watch Blackcoats Daughter yet?

Did you watch Blackcoats Daughter yet? No, I started it but my AC is broken so I'm using a bunch of fans to stay cool, which drowned out the audio. I Am the Pretty Thing... is on Netflix so I just watched it on my PC with headphones. Trying to get my AC fixed soon cause I am dying.

I watched a German romantic comedy tonight called "Mein Blind Date mit dem Leben", and it was really well done, very light hearted and wholesome. I liked it. Plus, the main character was played by Kostja Ullmann, who's ridiculously handsome. I was basically swooning during the whole movie.

Apparently Tarantino is making a Manson family murders movie. And Margot Robbie might be Sharon Tate.
This could either be great or it could be exploitative gore. Since the story actually happened, he will need to tread very carefully lest he completely disrespect and make a joke of the whole thing.

Tarantino has been treading exploitation waters since Kill Bill. I'd love to see the return of 90s restrained Tarantino, but I'm skeptical. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie never happens. It's like he's trying to incorporate increasingly edgy material in his cult-exploitation homages, Nazis, slavery, Manson family. I can see him struggling to get support for this subject matter, though. And how creepy is he looking these days?

I watched To The Bone, to see if the controversy was justified on an issue that hits uncomfortably close to home. The answer is yes, yes it was. I feel awful after watching that. Such an insensitive portrayal of the issue. Can't believe Collins was okay with this having gone through it herself. Just awful

Franco's got an Oscar coming his way: Umm no way should a parody win an Oscar before the movie itself. Can't believe scenes like this lost out to some Kiwi obsessed with short people.
