yeah i think it could've gone very wrong but they pulled it off brilliantly and yes i didn't really see the point in the documentary thing. I guess they were all filming their parts at the Oscars after Joan died? Also Kathy Bates's character could have been completely written out and it would have made no difference. i was so into the episode, afterwords i was like stalking ur livetweeting (as im sure you noticed lol) it's gonna be hard to top this with charles and diana I believe they did film it after Joan died. It was the Oscars 1977/1978 right? I think she died in 1977. My TV wouldn't let me watch it on demand last night so I will watch it tonight because I set it up to tape a repeat of the finale. post what you think when you watch!!!

I loved it. That could've failed on multiple levels but it worked. It was even heaviet following that scene where Bette calls Joan and doesn't say anything to her. My biggest gripe about the show was the faux-documentary angle. I felt it was unnecessary, but that dream sequence made Mamacita talking about it work. That was the only time. It makes me want to cry thinking about it again. yeah i think it could've gone very wrong but they pulled it off brilliantly and yes i didn't really see the point in the documentary thing. That will feel very different because they won't have any camp but that should be great.

I'm so annoyed that we didn't get Feud in the U.K. I've seen nothing to indicate that we will get it anytime soon either. Same with Fargo season 3. *sigh* Murphy's stuff always ends up on Netflix. It's soooooo good you'll be shook and crine. Maybe. U.S and U.K Netflix don't get the same content though so maybe not. I expect we'll get Fargo Season 3 at least, albeit near a year later (as was the case with Season 2). Think the only Murphy stuff on U.K. Netflix is AHS, and that's usually a season or so behind. Land now onto another series that left me shook and crine... kingeomer Big Little Lies finished here yesterday. Such a fantastic series and brilliant finale. I'd been spoiled, so I knew Perry died. But even so, I was still on edge throughout thinking it would be Celeste who was killed. When Perry revealed he knew about the apartment, when he drove past the gala, when she was hurrying through the gala looking for her friends. The scenes that were silent. I was so tense by the end. And the way they showed the bonds between these women. Jane, Madeline and Celeste in particular, but even Renata and Bonnie were brought into the group so seamlessly. The moment when they realised that Perry raped Jane was...well moving stuff. And the cut-aways of the fight between the women and Perry. Brilliant. Reading online, it sounds like Bonnie killing Perry was better explained in the book. I mean I still understand her motivation in the show, don't get me wrong. But knowing about her childhood abuse would have made more sense I think.

I believe they did film it after Joan died. It was the Oscars 1977/1978 right? I think she died in 1977. My TV wouldn't let me watch it on demand last night so I will watch it tonight because I set it up to tape a repeat of the finale. post what you think when you watch!!! I saw some criticism of the finale...that Murphy took some creative license with the end but honestly, I think he did the right thing. He gave it the best closure he possibly could. The hallucination scene I felt was well done and I felt like the theme was that these two ladies had so MUCH in common, given their star power at the time-had they teamed up and were friends, they could have been an unbeatable. Considering how much Hedda and Jack Warner benefited off of a Bette and Joan feud...they deserved to be called out for it in a hallucination. Jessica Lange was absolutely heartbreaking in Joan's final days. I kind of give her a bit of an edge in my Emmy consideration (Susan's terrific as Bette though). The scene where she is speaking to one of the twins and the grandchildren are playing in the apartment and she is stunned that the kids consider her their grandmother even though she's not biologically related to them. I was a little teary eyed at the end. Mamacita's little interview when she said that Joan died alone and where were these people when she was alone...perfect. I think Ryan Murphy excels in the miniseries format, when he can tell a limited story and not have to carry it throughout seasons, he does so well. Plus, I love the fact that he's writing great roles for older actresses. Feud's probably the best thing I've watched in 2017. RE Big Little Lies Glad you finished it! I really, really wish they had explained why Bonnie snapped, it was a powerful moment and honestly, I could relate to Bonnie given my own childhood. That was the one flaw in the finale, for me. I am glad that Renata and Bonnie were seamlessly accepted into the group. In the book, they all want to cover for Bonnie, but she tells the truth of what happened and if I remember correctly does not get jail time (I believe it's considered accidental/heat of the moment) and has to do many hours of community service. The book ends with Celeste speaking to domestic violence victims...while I liked the ending of the women playing together with their children, the book ending would have worked for me and panning to Madeline, Jane, Renata and Bonnie in the audience would have been excellent. yeah i think it could've gone very wrong but they pulled it off brilliantly and yes i didn't really see the point in the documentary thing. That will feel very different because they won't have any camp but that should be great. I will be curious as to how Charles and Diana will be handled. It can't be campy. I suppose it will end with Diana's death. I will be curious as to who they get to play Charles, Diana and Queen Elizabeth.

kingeomer Murphy said in an interview that Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange were not playing Diana and the Queen, respectively. Which is actually very surprising to me. I wonder what the other seasons could be. I think something like a JFK/Marilyn Monroe thing would be amazing, and one of the most "Murphy" things I can think of. They might be reluctant to do that tho, since the Jackie movie is still very recent.

I don't think Ryan Murphy is the right guy for that story tho lol

Lindsay Lohan vs Hilary Duff if they did Tupac and biggie I would shit a brick. I don't think Ryan Murphy is the right guy for that story tho lol Tupac and Biggie would be epic...you have so many personalities that are larger then life that could be featured in that (besides Pac and Biggie)...Puff Daddy/P Diddy, Suge Knight, Dr. Dre, Quincy Jones (Pac dated Kiadada Jones at the time of his death... but recently there was a Biggie movie (Notorious) and All Eyez on Me is due to come out soon and the fact that Ryan Murphy is not the right guy to tell this story...2Pac and Biggie won't happen. I'm trying to think of other iconic feuds out there and I can't think of one. He could bring back Catherine Zeta Jones as Olivia De Haviland as she and her sister Joan Fontaine were not exactly best of friends.

It's too bad another show is covering the greatest feud of all time.

Has anybody watched One Punch Man? I'm only 4 episodes in but it's fucking hilarious. YES. It catches exactly what makes all of those over exaggerated anime series so ridiculous. And for such an entertaining show, there are undeniable themes of capitalism versus socialism, underlined by a sense of existential dread. Which I suppose makes it one of the first satirical anime series I think I've ever seen.

I don't tend to watch many animes myself, a lot of them seem so similar so I usually only watch the really good ones, but OPM is just a good show. Plus, it's making a point of playing on the tropes that make a lot of them pretty bad as a catalyst. Glad your enjoying it Davey

Glad your enjoying it Davey I admittedly like anime but the overused tropes and cliches do annoy me. I believe you've watched Cowboy Bebop because you post music from it from time to time. That is one show that absolutely transcends the genre and stands with the best shows of all time. So far I think One Punch Man is another show that is good enough that non-anime fans would enjoy it as well.

So far I think One Punch Man is another show that is good enough that non-anime fans would enjoy it as well. Yeah I've watched Bebop, which is easily one of the greatest animated series ever made, not just anime. I also wathced Samurai Champloo, which was made by the same director. It has somewhat of a similar trend to Bebop but a far lighter ending comparatively (depending on what theories you choose to believe.) I've watched a few other animes, like the stuff that was on when I was growing up like DBZ which is still awesome, but I can't get past the fact that ultimately all of the tension is fabricated. The villain will always be defeated and death can always be circumvented by wishing people back to life. It's still great, but when you realise that, it takes a lot of the edge off. I do enjoy Attack on Titan and Fullmetal Alchemist as well. I always liked the idea in FMA that there was no way to obtain things without making horrific sacrafices, and even then, certain things just aren't possible. Even the villains to some degree are sympathetic, given that what they are trying to achieve is nigh on impossible. It's all about greed, corruption and the search for the truth. Fun stuff. Call it the pessimist in me, but I like the idea of characters having massive flaws rather than being omnipotent superheroes. I think that's what really rounded out Bebop. Spike was just a guy trying to get something that was ultimately unattainable.

Spike was just a guy trying to get something that was ultimately unattainable. Samurai Champloo is a great show, with an amazing soundtrack, but yeah, it's lacking the depth of Cowboy Bebop for sure. But Bebop is such an amazing show, that it's almost unfair to hold others to a similar standard. I was definitely a bit underwhelmed with the ending of Samurai Champloo which placed a lot of emphasis on action but lacked the emotional impact its predecessor had. I really can't praise Cowboy Bebop enough, I've never seen a show capture the somber nature of adulthood so well, and I think it's a great example of modern existentialism. And of course, that damn soundtrack! I've only seen a couple episodes of FMA but Attack on Titan is a great show that imagines what life would be like if human beings were the prey animals in a Planet Earth special. I actually bought the first season on bluray and I'm in the middle of a rewatch. Is it me, or does the theme song have a kind of fascist feel to it? If you liked One Punch Man you might enjoy Kill la Kill, which is available to stream on Netflix, at least in the US. It's a fantastic show that satirizes a lot of common anime tropes, like fan service. It's also extremely fast paced and action packed, and has some interesting themes on society, specifically how fashion exists as a status symbol.

I think DBZ is pretty much perfect, I still regularly rewatch random episodes because I love it so much. Apart from DBZ though, I'm not really into anime. I loved Death Note when I was younger, thought it was so deep.
