I don't think George is going to end his epic story with the restoration of the broken system that is the incestuous Targ reign. I agree. I'm betting on a collapse of the current system. Either a new age beyond the feudal system, with the ascent of a new ruler class outside the nobility or a return to the past, with independent kingdoms and without a centralized power. The first suggestion feels very unlikely with how backward Westeros is, even compared to medieval England. Maybe they could develop an actual working justice system or some more rights for the lower classes before making that giant leap.

I'm guessing it's not a main character because I think they would tell them at least, but who knows. Probably will end up being someone like Osha. I can see Natalia Tena reacting like that if Osha were to die. Anyone would have a reason to be upset to find out that way they're out of a job. I would hope they'd be more respectful of someone involved with the show for 3+ seasons, and if said person only just came back I think they'd want to tell it would only be for a limited time.

Thanks for pointing out the 'key elements' bit - makes sense they're being vague about it to preserve their own writing freedom while maintaining the basic core story GRRM has in mind. I just can't imagine him being 'ok' with a totally different story and ending after all the effort and years put into both the books and the show now. And I don't think they'd want to tell a different ending, they obviously love GRRM's story but they've had to make changes and those changes are part of the "butterfly effect" which begets even more changes. but I think that they've always had GRRM's ending in mind and while many characters and story lines weer in different directions they'll all join up one way or another. I think they were just using a limited definition of spoiling in that, as in the show can never ruin the books for book fans because they're separate enough entities that there will still be new material if/when a new book comes out. But they can't escape the fact that they've already revealed things from the books by confirming that the Crasterlings become white walkers and that Valyrian Steel kills white walkers, and of course showing Shireen's death early. Even if the circumstances of her burning are very different in the books, it's still a spoiler to know that she dies that way.

IIRC Harald will appear in 3 episodes, and Smalljon in 2. I think Sansa will go straight to the Wall. I think that's likely too. If Brienne leaves her with untrustworthy bannermen and Sansa trusts them anyway, that would be kinda beating a dead horse as far as Brienne fucking up the rescue mission and Sansa trusting the wrong people.

Not just Republicans, racist Democrats too. They were the ones who started the birther movement, after all.

He's promoting his play, it has nothing to do with HBO. Which is why the topic of Jon Snow keeps coming up... his play. Right. Obviously Jon Snow is all anyone cares about, but that's not why his team is booking these interviews.

1.08 and 1.09 are two of my favorites. Just re-watched Blackwater, it never gets old. One thing I always wonder about is who the Hound was drinking with in that scene with Bronn. It's nice that Sandor had a friend, though. Or at least a casual drinking acquaintance. I always assumed that was his squire. He's not wearing the little squire outfit like Pod and Lancel did. Or Gregor 1.0's squire.

Yeah I'm actually surprised he's done as many as he has lately and the same tired question and answer routine. I know these things get 'approved' before the interviews ever take place, but who at HBO still thinks it's a good thing to have Kit going through this song and dance routine over and over? He should refuse to do them at this point. He's promoting his play, it has nothing to do with HBO.

Yeah, this has never really been a Targ restoration story. Dany's arc is about being a savior/prophesied hero, and her ruling training ground wasn't very valuable experience if she's just going to fire and blood. I think a Targaryen will absolutely be sitting on the IT at the end, be it Dany, Jon, or even one of their offspring. The Baratheons are finished, and I don't see an entirely new ruling family having much finality to it. Oh, I don't think there will be an IT at the end. Yeah, sure as hell won't be a Baratheon monarch, lol.

I think the Umbers will switch sides and the Karstarks will be on the Bolton side. The Karstarks may even try to force Sansa to marry one of their lords, like they did to Alys Karstark. But she's still married to Ramsay, the only way to make her single is to make her a widow. Are you saying you think there's another double cross in the works where they fight for Ramsay while planning to kill him after the battle?
