^You're a couple days late man. Oops, well now it's embedded. Anyway, the movie looks pretty good. It's kind of rare for a series 7 films deep to still be so good.

I thought the trailer was ok, but it made me feel like the movie is going to be bad. Like, X3 levels of bad. I hope I'm wrong, because I love the films and DOFP was really good. Also people are bashing Sophie's american accent, which I admit I thought sounded really bad even though I'm no expert.

All 3 of the Singer X-Men movies have been great imo. Can't see a movie with Michael Fassbender and Oscar Isaac being X3 level bad either. Those 2 don't do bad movies. Between the cast, Singer, and the choice of one of the X-Men's best villain I'm pretty confident this is going to be good.

I know Singer has a great record with X Men films, and the casting has some really good actors, is just a feeling I have about this movie. I can't explain why, but for some reason, after they released the trailer, I lost my excitement. My biggest hope is to be totally wrong, to have the movie come out and get great reviews and go watch it and enjoying it as much as I enjoyed DOFP. Maybe saying that it can be as bad as X3 was too much, I know Singer could never fuck things up like Brett Ratner did, but the bad feeling about this movie is there and I can't shake it.

Looks like this time X-Men is going for Man of Steel levels of destruction. One thing I enjoy about the X-Men movies is that the destructions tends to be restrained, you know, the damage is always contained (sort of), but when the villain is called Apocalypse, I see why you'll need to increase the level of damage. As long as is not completely gratuitous, is ok.
Still not feeling the movie. I no longer think the movie itself is going to be bad, I think I may be a bit dissapointed because there are things I didn't like from DOFP and I can see them here again, mainly, Mystique getting too much attention because she is played by JLaw. JLaw is a great actress, and is not her fault if the writers and the studio want to turn Mystique into a main character to use her box office draw, but her version of Mystique is kind of bland. By making her more sympathetic, they also took away her edge. And I know I will be chased off this forum for saying this, but I still think Sophie wasn't a good choice for Jean Grey.
I think another personal problem I have (and I know is just me and the X-Men movies are not made to satisfy my every whim and desire) is that I want to see the "adjustment" DOFP made to the timeline being used to modify the characters that got the worst adaptation in the original trilogy. Looks like Cyclops and Storm are getting that chance, but Rogue probably won't, and as I've said before, she is my favourite X-Men, and I want to see her, how she actually is, in the big screen. Anna Paquin seems to be done with X-Men after she got the damsel in distress treatment in DOFP, Gambit is going to have his own movie, is the perfect moment to introduce a new Rogue in the cinematic universe, but I don't think the studio will take that chance (and in case I never said it, Gambit and Rogue is one of the few ships I have, I want to see them together on the big screen so bad, I'd probably faint if it actually happened).

I completely agree wrt Rogue. Singer's version of her (and Cyclops to an extent) where really my only gripes with the first couple he did. Guess we'll keep waiting to see the true Rogue on the big screen.

Man, I hope they do the Dark Phoenix stuff with Sophie Turner at some point. I normally don't read comic books, but I've read the entire Dark Phoenix Saga, just because I was really into the X-Men at some point and Jean Grey has always been my favourite character - and I freaking loved it. The third movie was so extremely disappointing to me, because they did absolutely nothing with Phoenix, they wasted probably the most iconic and beloved X-Men storyline.

Yeah, I don't believe they will, and I don't think they can even if they wanted, the movie canon is already very different from the comic book canon. In the comics, the Phoenix is a mysterious cosmic force that just happens to connect with Jean Grey, whereas in the movies, Jean Grey is the Phoenix. But I'd still love it if they did at least something with it. Famke Janssen was so great and the set up for an epic storyline revolving around the Phoenix was done brilliantly in the second movie. But they did nothing with it, they adapted an entirely different storyline and Dark Phoenix was just kinda ... there, doing nothing, really. Such a letdown.

I think the Phoenix saga would work better with an adult Jean Grey, played by someone older than Sophie, that is, if the studio ever dares touch that storyline after X3

Last Stand was thrown out the window thanks to DoFP. It's not part of the movie canon anymore. Thank the gods. So they could do if they want at some point. It just won't be this movie. There will be too much already going on with Apocalypse.

Late to the party here. I think X3 was the last X-Men movie I watched, so out of the ones I saw, X2 was best, from what I can recall. That "You are a God among insects" line sticks in my head. Good movie. Strangely, I don't remember much about X3 other than something felt off about it.
Sophie being cast as Jean Grey has brought my attention to this one along with Apocalypse being in it. Sadly, it doesn't look like he will be as awesomely over-the-top as 90s cartoon Apocalypse.

Critics are being quite hard on the movie. I'll wait to see what normal audiences think, but it does not look good.

The reviews are surprising. Singer has always done a good job with the franchise.

Not that I dont enjoy seeing this one trashed but holy hell are these reviews idiotic. They mention how bad the vilain and Isaac's performance are but defend him with "oooh dont hide such an actor under the make up". Cant Isaac read? Did he not see what the role is? So if he sucks that is probably on him too. Another thing is CWar praise in almost each review. Not only do I have to manuever to avoid actual CW reviews now there are CW reviews in other movies' reviews Nope. Not paying for either of these overstuffed cash grabs.
