Yeah, at the very least they'll have to address it. Good luck with finding a more charismatic actor for their northern lords, though It seems odd that Smalljon will only be in 2 episodes because I thought the Umbers would feature more than that since Rickon is with them and Sansa is most likely going to Last Hearth. That's why I'm still hoping for Greatjon in a Manderly-like role, though the odds are slim. They may treat Yohn Royce as a kind of surrogate Manderly and be done with it.

I'm not convinced that Smalljon is the only Umber left either and they have mentioned White Harbor in the show so why not just have Manderly in at least for a minute of screen time as a nod.

I think the Umbers are there to hand off Rickon to Davos when he visits the Last Hearth which is why you would only need them for a couple episodes.
I'm not as sure about the Karstarks but I could see them being there for Sansa to interact with and have some kind of remixed version of the Alys Karstark situation (Sansa will probably be trying to get to the Wall to see Jon). It's possible the Karstarks interact with the Boltons (perhaps to negotiate for Sansa) but I don't think they have a huge role in what many fans seem to think is the North rebelling.
The most logical opponent for the Boltons are the Knights of the Vale with LF pulling their strings.

In that scenario, I don't think she goes there as much as she runs into them on the way and they take her. Additionally, it's a long way to the Wall and she may need to just go somewhere first out of necessity. Finally, I don't get the feeling Sansa is up to date on which bannermen she can and can't trust.

Yeah that's true, but I think after her experience with the Boltons, she probably is more skeptical about the other Northern Lords. But you're right, she has to go somewhere now that she has escaped and she doesn't know what happened at the Wall. So while Lord Karstark could be a threat to her, she might have to take the risk until she finds her brothers.

Sansa better be going to the Last Hearth, I really don't give a shit about Rickon's return if it doesn't mean a Stark reunion of some kind.

So Smalljon has 2 scenes, perhaps a north remembers speech to Sansa and/or Davos and Rickon's reveal in the same scene. The other one could be a fight scene? Umbers vs. Boltons, Sansa rescued or something like that. Karstark and Smalljon should have been at WF last season.

What I wouldn't give to see Rickon riding Shaggydog with the carcass of a bear he killed on his head.

I'm going to be a tad annoyed if Smalljon gets the "The North Remembers" speech over Manderly. It makes sense within the narrative, I know, but I'm bitter.

Umbers are here for Davos to find Rickon.
Karstarks maybe to be Roose loyalists or maybe they find Sansa.

I think I'm ok with the Umbers taking over the lead role of uniting the Notherners. I'm with you day dreamer I would have preferred Manderly and that story be included but I've accepted other cuts in the story I loved as well, just no way to put all of it in the show so they trim where they can I guess.

I'm not sure how the show is going to manage to send Davos off to find Rickon. He's not going to be going around trying to get people to join Stannis' cause now. I wonder if he just stays at Castle Black to help Jon when he comes back? :shrugs:

I wonder if he just stays at Castle Black to help Jon when he comes back? :shrugs: Yeah Davos is a real wildcard this coming season because his story will be entirely different in the show vs. the book since Stannis is still alive in the book and they've cut the Manderly story so far. Your guess is probably as good as any and staying at the wall with Jon would be good - Jon's going to need a new support network!

Davos might get to kill Mel eventually, that could be his big show moment.

I don't think she's dying anytime soon.

I don't think she's dying anytime soon. Nor do I. Like it or not, I think she'll be kicking around for quite a while still. In the show we at least know she'll live to see Arya again and to walk the walls of Winterfell. But I'd be willing to bet she lives even longer than that still.
