"It's likely that after what he did to his daughter, no one in the realm shed a tear for Stannis Baratheon in the "Game of Thrones" Season 5 finale.
Behind the scenes though, having to say goodbye to actor Stephen Dillane, who played the Stannis to his Davos Seaworth, was tough for actor Liam Cunningham. Liam, Stephen and Carice van Houten (Melisandre) became a close bunch of actors, as their scenes often featured just the three of them (since their Season 2 introduction on the HBO show). "

Go smuggle his body out of there Davos!

Does anybody have a link to the glorious pic of him having ice cream with several other cast members? I tried every ridiculous word combination, but Google refused to cooperate. Edit: Sorry, I mixed things up, it was actually Aiden Gillen, Conleth Hill and Michael McElhatton.

So there's no scene with his corpse? Come on, you can't have him die offscreen and then not even show his corpse. Nezzer, it's confirmed. Stannis Baratheon is alive and resting at Deepwood Motte.

Ok, I'm starting to accept it a bit better now, though I still think it's not that unlikely that he's alive. I'm still pissed at D&D and Brienne, but if he died at least he went out well. He is one of the few badass warriors who actually died in battle in this show instead of being poisoned, backstabbed, tortured or publicly humiliated like Ned. His last last days were the worst of his life and his last moments filled with pure regret, but he got a good death in the end.

I'd say this is exactly what the writers did to Stannis and his fanbase. It's worse then Ned. They killed his character twice in the spread of 2 episodes. I find this repugnant, unforgivable and the worst thing the show has ever done, worse than Stoneheart. I feel betrayed by what went down in the show.

It would have been a good death, if it wasn't offscreen.

It would have been a good death, if it wasn't offscreen. Nutter gave his rationale of course and I think some people would've been more pissed if it had been shown tbh, but yeah, they might as well have showed it just so we all knew what was what. I agree with you there.

Call me crazy, but I think D&D threw a bone to GRRM with not showing the death conclusively. They are letting GRRM finish TWOW and tell the story before Season 6 airs.

Making a fictional character look bad is "repugnant" and "unforgivable"? I get being upset, but these are the kinds of words people use to describe war crimes.

Are you trying to say that these words are reserved to describe 'war crimes'? I'll use words however I am damn pleased.

I never said you couldn't use them. But yes, the meaning of those words is very extreme, and generally used to describe crimes of a serious magnitude, not the writing of a fictional character in a tv show.

But still, the show did show who won the outcome of BoI and GRRM hinted this with the Pink Letter (which we can assume now did come from Ramsay) that Stannis was dead. By not showing the sword strike him, it left it a tad open. They repeated this theme with Daenerys surrounded by Dothroki and Jon laying dead after a 4th knife stab. The fact that they didn't take it further than any of those scenes makes me think they are giving GRRM a chance to break the next set of news on his story.

Stephen never does interviews unless it's in his contract or he really wants to. In this case I can see why he doesn't want to
