Well, when I first joined Westeros.org about 3 years ago all the names I wanted to use were taken (I can't remember any of them), so I decided to settle on Maester of Ice and Fire. After a hot second I decided it was stupid to i abbreviated it to MoIaF. In my head I pronounce is as Moy-aff.

I love LOTR, too, kingeomer, and basically all things Tolkien. His watercolor drawings are phenomenal. (Actually, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" is on tv in the background right now, near the end, with Bilbo walking around on all the gold, waking up Smaug. It's about to hit the fan.) Nezzer, I'm really, really jealous you already have 2 z's in your "real" name. Totally unfair. I had to steal my 2 z's from a pet.
Arthucus is a very a clever roman name (Arthur + Sparticus I'm guessing?) - could have come straight out of The Aeneid, and I would know...4 years of Latin, ugh!
I like Roose lots better than Ramsey, too, Roose is Azor Ahai. And you could add to AA lore that he was born on Finland's Independence Day (except I don't guess anybody in Westeros would know where Finland was).
OK, unicornshoes, you get the prize for most original! I also love the avatar you chose, it's pretty durn original, too. Envie, I love your name and also your story, and also the Chaucer quote. I'm thinking your username chose you instead of the other way around.
Quoth is so appropriate for your "dark wings, dark words" . . . and you can always add "quoth the raven, Nevermore", but you already thought of that, I'm sure. Anyway, I like the raven in flight in your avatar.
I've always wondered where moiaf came from, or what it meant, and now I know. I think Maester of Ice and Fire would have been great, but I like moiaf better - much more mysterious.
I swear, one of these days I've just gotta learn how to multi-quote. I kept trying it on the other board and never could figure it out.

Its interesting that people seem drawn toward certain letters. I'm partial to K's, for no actual reason. Speaking of, I read an article years ago that George Eastman loved the letter K, so much so that he wanted to name his first-born child Kokak, but his wife refused (lucky for the kid!) So, when he formed his own company and went public with it, he named it Kodak.

I'm sort of a visual person, so what occurs to me is that it might have to do with the shape of the letters. I think it's the angles that I'm drawn to, someone else might be drawn to rounded forms. My brother and his wife ended up having 5 kids, and they used names for each one that began with a J. My daughter is a J, but she was named after my much loved great aunt, so that's a different kind of origin.

Maester Aemon: "i grew up in King's Landing"

One of my majors is Philosophy and my username is a philosophical concept from the Greek antiquity. It's a Greek word and practically means " the right or opportune moment". It was often used as a religious idea, meaning the right or opportune moment to find God, especially in Christian Theology, but it is not restricted to that. It can also refer to special moments in time during everyday life.

Ghost Stannis is the only man left in Westeros worthy of the Iron Throne. He would be the greatest ghost king since that medium channeled Aegon the conquerer for the day.

(war eins meiner Abiturfächer ) Philosophy is such a cool subject. It's a pity it's not taught more often in German schools. Ich werde ab September wohl selbst Philosophie unterrichten.

Philosophy was the only class I really liked in college, aside from French. I should have been a Parisian philosopher drinking wine and having sex all day.
