Well, say episode 2, since her appearance was brief in the premiere. She really steps it up in episode...4 I think?

Do the Globes release a long list of those who were submitted for nominations? Or is that up to individual shows/networks?

I can't speak on the movie wins, other then Zootopia which is worthy. The TV wins were pretty spot on. Glad that Thandie and Evan won, much deserved. I didn't think Thrones deserved Best Drama over Stranger Things, Westworld, The Crown or This Is Us. But season 6 overall was an improvement over seasons 4 & 5. , no one can top John Lithgow in supporting actor. Especially Kit. Lithgow is fantastic on The Crown. I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan won for Best Guest Actor in a Drama.

Jesus Christ I have been following the Oscar season for 15+ years but I just don't know what goes through heads of people who saw Westworld and are voting for Globes and they do not nominate Hopkins who gave the best performance in more than a decade, gave the best performance on the show and doesn't even have a regular Golden Globe so what better opportunity than to award him now.
It's just incomprehensible.

It's just incomprehensible. indeed. Apart from that irritance (no love at all for any of the male cast of Westworld?! Even setting Hopkins aside there were others worthy of the nomination too) overall pretty pleased with the nominees (in terms of tv. I domt watch enough movies to care about that part). Evan and Newton both nominees, was surprised but pleased to see Winona Ryder nominated too. John Lithgow should win for the crown imo. I think, as per usual, best actress will be the toughest contest

I would say the biggest snubs on the TV side (I don't watch enough movies to say there were snubs, but yes to a nod for Viggo Mortensen!) are Sterling K Brown (who was nominated for People Vs. OJ Simpson) and Milo Ventimiglia for This Is Us and most definitely Ed Harris, Anthony Hopkins and Jeffrey Wright for Westworld. John Lithgow is going to win best supporting actor, he was beyond belief on The Crown.

I just can't with those nominations, they are all over the place like crazy woman's shit They nominate Farrell out of nowhere for The Lobster which is fine because Farrell is great but it's such an odd nomination when the movie didn't even get one for the screenplay, Viggo's movie is apparently drama all of the sudden, Florence Foster Jenkins acting nominations are fine - particularly happy about Simon who doesn't really deserve that nomination but he is a nice and talented dude - but a nomination for a movie when The Nice Guys got fuck all? Chastian - how? why? Lily Collins - whhaaa? And Thandie is supporting all of the sudden when I distinctly remember HBO submitting her as lead...

Rooting for Rhys and Russell to win Golden globes, best leads on tv for a few years now imo. Best Drama is pretty weak

That is one film I have seen that loads of people seemed to love and said was hilarious and I just didn't see it at all. I also thought Thandie was Lead. Maybe some kind of criteria for the categories forced them to submit her elsewhere? Not complaining. No Eva Green? Well Fallon I warned you.... That is why I asked about long lists. Don't even know she was submitted. After failing to get Emmy nominations (which they definitely tried for) it's possible she wasn't submitted. And with the show being over now, that could be another reason. Rooting for Rhys and Russell to win Golden globes, best leads on tv for a few years now imo. Best Drama is pretty weak Rhys definitely is the best in his category. Russell is good, but I think that category is too close to call because all the nominees are great. The Americans deserves so much praise though

The Simon for Florence Foster Jenkins in supporting....really? You couldn't nominate Ben Foster or Michael Shannon there? Hopkins sitting out surprises me even more considering how old the HFPA voters are. (I mean that in the least ageist way possible but I can't think of a way to word it without sounding like an asshole) They also love their Freshman series, so I think Atlanta will take comedy, but Thrones is the only non freshman show in Drama. This Is Us will probably get it for being on network TV. Admin I was just saying to myself the other day that I expected Viggo to be submitted in comedy (even though Captain Fantastic is a drama) for a better chance, so I'm just happy to see him in Drama. Deadpool over The Nice Guys is ridiculous. Someone on Twitter made realize something last night, after Ryan Reynolds was named Entertainer of the Year at the Critics Choice...Hollywood really worked hard to make Reynolds happen. He's gorgeous and has charisma, but he's never been the greatest actor and he's had a lot more huge misses than hits. Why did they put so much effort into him?

Why did they put so much effort into him?EW also named him their Entertainer of the Year as well. You are correct that Hollywood has put a lot of effort into making him happen (same with Gosling, who cannot open a movie 90% of the time-no matter how good the movie is supposed to be) and I am not sure what makes Ryan Reynolds so much more worthier of a great push over a better actor, to be honest. I mean, I enjoyed Deadpool but I can think of a few actors who could have played the role just as well as Reynolds did.
