The Simon for Florence Foster Jenkins in supporting....really? You couldn't nominate Ben Foster or Michael Shannon there? Hopkins sitting out surprises me even more considering how old the HFPA voters are. (I mean that in the least ageist way possible but I can't think of a way to word it without sounding like an asshole) They also love their Freshman series, so I think Atlanta will take comedy, but Thrones is the only non freshman show in Drama. This Is Us will probably get it for being on network TV. Admin I was just saying to myself the other day that I expected Viggo to be submitted in comedy (even though Captain Fantastic is a drama) for a better chance, so I'm just happy to see him in Drama. Deadpool over The Nice Guys is ridiculous. Someone on Twitter made realize something last night, after Ryan Reynolds was named Entertainer of the Year at the Critics Choice...Hollywood really worked hard to make Reynolds happen. He's gorgeous and has charisma, but he's never been the greatest actor and he's had a lot more huge misses than hits. Why did they put so much effort into him?EW also named him their Entertainer of the Year as well. You are correct that Hollywood has put a lot of effort into making him happen (same with Gosling, who cannot open a movie 90% of the time-no matter how good the movie is supposed to be) and I am not sure what makes Ryan Reynolds so much more worthier of a great push over a better actor, to be honest. I mean, I enjoyed Deadpool but I can think of a few actors who could have played the role just as well as Reynolds did. Gosling, I feel had the fandom behind him with those "hey girl" memes. And unlike Reynolds, Gosling does put in good performances (see: Half Nelson, Blue Valentine, The Believer, etc) But Reynolds they worked hard at. They've been trying to push him as a hearthrob since the early 2000's.

Someone else could play the role, sure, but Deadpool doesn't get made without Ryan Reynolds. I agree with everything you guys are saying about him, but if he didn't set his mind on making that movie, it doesn't happen.

Ryan Reynold's Globe nom is essentially for a voice over performance since he spent half that movie in a mask and a lot of times it was his stunt double anyways.

Well I have...taste for older gentlemen But Globe is the furthest Reynolds goes, him nor the movie won't get more nominations

Me searching these dumb motherfuckers' nominations for Harris, Hopkins, Wood and Wright: At least ensemble cast was nominated.... Millie Bobby Brown got a nomination. Do the SAGs usually give awards to younger actors/actresses? I know it's not too common in other awards. (But hell that little girl deserves it)

I see Stranger Things has been nominated for a ton of awards (I loved the first season and can't wait for the next) so far, but did they win anything at the Emmy's, or the Critics Choice?

They weren't eligible for the Emmys this year, since the show was only released over the summer (June iirc). I believe it was the Emmy awards where they sang Uptown Funk and delivered PBJ sandwiches to the audience. They will eligible be for the 2017 Emmys

Reading some golden globe predictions on The Guardian (and I disagree with them in several respects, i might add) amd came across this gem describing Cersei: "The season after she had to walk naked around King’s Landing, Cersei found herself a zombie knight enforcer, got to literally wear Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation outfit..." Guardian seems disappointingly disparaging of Westworld and Stranger Things though. Mfff

Good lord the Globes have crept up on us already. And here I am without any vodka in the house, or a drinking buddy to keep me company. Alas, wine and an appalling headache when I wake up tomorrow will have to suffice

IMPORTANT: an NBC presenter just told Pharrell he was nominated for his work on Hidden Fences. Pharrell was polite enough not to tell her she’d just made up the name of a film.
ALSO IMPORTANT: Al Roker referred to Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel as Jaystin Timberlake and Jessica Alba.

didn't even know this was happening tonight ... right now I'm contemplating whether I should stay up and watch that shit, or just forget about it and go to bed
