Here are the 22 animated films that have been submitted for the Oscars.
Angry Birds Movie (US) April & The Extraordinary World (France) Finding Dory (US) Ice Age: Collision Course (US) Kubo and the Two Strings (US) Kung Fu Panda 3 (US) The Little Prince (France) Long Way North (France/Denmark) Miss Hokusai (Japan) Moana (US) Mune: Guardian of the Mune (France) My Life as a Zucchini (Switzerland) Phantom Boy (France) Ratchet & Clank (Canada/US) The Red Turtle (France/Japan) Sausage Party (US) The Secret Life of Pets (US) Sing (US) Storks (US) Trolls (US) Your Name (Japan) Zootopia (US)
Which do you think are locks? Right now, Zootopia feels a lock. Many award watchers feel The Red Turtle should be a lock as well. Kubo and the Two Strings and Finding Dory seem like good guesses to me as well.

I'd say Zootopia and Finding Dory are locks. Kubo sounds like it has good chances, I didn't see it but my son did and he really liked it.
Probably Moana and Little Prince will fill out the category.
Sing might have an outside shot.

i haven't heard of a single one of those movies I've seen Moonlight, Arrival, Sing Street, Green Room, Eye in the Sky, and Hell or High Water and those are all very good. I have Captain Fantastic at my house now from Netflix. Hail Caesar and Hello My Name is Doris are terrible.

I'll never get to watch all these movies before Oscars. Mahershala Ali was terrific in Luke Cage and I am glad he's getting love for his work in Moonlight.
It really does sound like the Best Actor Oscar is Casey Affleck's to lose.
Loving that OJ Simpson Made in America is winning Best Documentary. If you have not seen that, watch it.

Loving that OJ Simpson Made in America is winning Best Documentary. If you have not seen that, watch it. I need to look for that on youtube or dailymotion because it's not on Netflix instant and my dvd queue is long. Isabelle Huppert is getting great reviews for Elle and seems to be a Best Actress front runner, but I don't think I can bring myself to watch that movie. It sounds awful.

Same here. I JUST read about the Affleck thing yesterday and Nate Parker's news was everywhere. I suppose it could start to pick up now that the Daily Beast and Film School Rejects have both done pieces on it. The Academy also narrowed down 20 finalists for the Visual Effects category. Alice Through the Looking Glass Arrival The BFG Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Captain America: Civil War Deadpool Deepwater Horizon Doctor Strange Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Independence Day: Resurgence The Jungle Book Kubo and the Two Strings Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Passengers Rogue One Star Trek Beyond Suicide Squad Sully Warcraft X-Men Apocalyps

Okay this thread made me read into Casey Afflecks allegations cause I knew fuck all about his personal life and wow what a scumbag if that shit is true. Not gonna lie I think he is one of the most talented actors around (a million times better than his brother) and would have loved to see him win a best actor but damn.. Weak year for movies though. I'll be rooting for Hell or High Water and Arrival to win everything. Still hype for Scorseses Silence as well.
