11I said last week that Snowbowl was my second-favourite episode in the series behind Rains of Castamere, but I changed my mind after a rewatch. It's still in my Top-5 for sure, but I would probably rank it lower than Baelor and Blackwater. However, this ... this is my second-favourite episode in the series. I fucking applauded when it was over. I was watching it alone on my laptop, and I started clapping. Snowbowl was great, but in terms of pure emotions and epicness, this was the best episode this season, imo. I cried so hard, and I am still crying as I am typing this. Jesus fucking Christ. The Tower of Joy was everything. It wasn't rushed, it was beautiful, the acting was outstanding, the music. It's hard to put into words how much I loved it, it was simply perfect and everything I had hoped it would be, and more. The North declaring for Jon ... I know I would have loved to see Sansa become Queen in the North, and maybe it will happen in the future, but for now, I am content with this. The King in the North! The King in the North. Davos confronting Mel was so well done. I started tearing up as soon as he started talking, and when he said Shireen was like his own daughter, I was gone. And despite everything she's done, my heart still breaks for Melisandre and it makes me sad that this was probably the last scene between Mel and Davos, as those two are not only among my favourite characters, but probably the best duo on the show with an amazing chemistry. Dany and Tyrion was heartfelt, genuine, I loved it. Both Emilia and Dinklage killed it in that scene. And of course I cried when she declared him Hand of the Queen. Good stuff. The final shot of the episode was epic as fuck. King's Landing. What can I say that hasn't already been said. It was perfect, and I hate using this word over and over again. The Mad Queen has finally arrived. Again, it was everything I had hoped for. Light of the Seven is a haunting track. Marg recognizing the danger, the fear and horror in the High Sparrow's face for a brief second, before everything went boom. Beautiful. And now the valonqar has arrived to wrap his hands around Cersei's pale white throat. I even liked Dorne. I'm a bit bummed that they gave Doran's iconic line to fucking Ellaria, but I'm glad that they used it word for word, because it's one of my favourites. Olenna owning the Sand Snakes was beautiful. The only thing I hated, obviously, was the Frey stuff. I'm biased, but Walder Frey wasn't Arya's to kill. It came out of nowhere, it felt rushed and weird. Frey pies? What?! I didn't care for that scene one bit, and it didn't give me any satisfaction. Whatever. RIP, my Lady. Why can't I give this one 11?

Tentative 7 after watching my recording this morning. Will reevaluate again after my brother's graduation. Liked the Kings Landing stuff the most but found the Arya stuff a bit weird and rushed, but never mind. Like I say, I'll reevaluate on a second watch and post some more thoughts

I really liked it. So glad Tommen's death did not go unnoticed - I'd have hated it if they would have postponed Cersei's reaction to next season.!
Only two major complaints: I didn't like the Septa Unella scene at all. But I guess that's a personal thing, many seem to have liked that. And Arya bringing pies was totally and utterly nonsensical to me - unmotivated and out of character.
But besides these, good episode.

I really wish people would stop this.... they have already said that time doesn't flow second to second the way it seems and trying to make everything line up, story line to story line would be impossible. You have no idea how long it's been since Varys left the Seven Kingdoms to meet up with Dany. Also, there were Tyrell and Martel sails in that fleet. So, it's obvious that they did meet up at some point. Should they add in time blurbs all over the place so you guys will stop thinking people are teleporting?

All northern children hear about the story of the "Rat King" at the wall who defied guest right and served a guest his own son in a pie. And the gods cursed him for doing so by turning him into a rat. This story was told in the books and TV show (When Bran was crossing the wall the first time). So, Arya did it as an homage to that story, since Walder also broke guest right.

Well I lost 1150 dollars that episode, but I won't let my pride tarnish my rating. Not having LSH this season hurt. It hurt bad. But I'm over it. Seeing a crown on Cersei made me sick. But seeing the look of disgust/hate on Jaime almost made it worth it. Plus, with a certain someone on the way I'll get what I want eventually. A long lost theory was finally confirmed. I actually won money on that one, although since that bet has been ongoing for over 10 years, it's...whatever. All in all, this was exceptional entertainment. I gave it a 9 out of 10. Probably would have gave it a perfect 10, but Baelish storyline...just weird. Varys being in two places at once (I know, I know, timeline this and that because TV show and reasons reasons reasons, but fuck it, I didn't like it the gods be damned!). Also, Frey didn't get a glorious enough death, but I lump that in with LSH missing. I also didn't like losing one of the most beautiful women on my show...but it was done really well. And Romeo following her shortly afterward was predictable. As for the LSH bit...

The pie revenge fits perfectly into the Wyman storyline; it does not into Arya's story and character. I bet 99% of show watchers have not the slightest idea why those pies were there (besides obviously being a especially cruel type of revenge). To me, this is a rather stupid way of "fan service ", as it does not blend in with the different story in the Show; and tbh it makes me feel at least a little relieved LSH was not pushed in in such an unmotivated and useless way...

But we haven't "lost" her yet, right? Cersei wasn't lying about getting her revenge. I'd hate to be that woman. If she's willing to burn all those people, the gods know what she's going t have done to the woman who beat her up while in confinement.

After thinking a while I'm giving it a 9. A bit too predictable to me but well done. Especially KL. For a second there when Jaime got to KL I thought we'd get surprise Valanqar but nope. It would have been too soon I know but it would have made it way more shocking imo.
Sidenote: They need to stop giving everything away in the Previously On. Not that anyone was surprised by R+L=J but idk. Not that I'm not giving it a 10 for that, but it is a bit annoying to have every little foreshadowing moment right before the ep your about to watch. They should stop with the Previously On altogether if you ask me, we don't need it. Oops rant sorry.

Fuck it, bumping it up to 9. There were parts I didn't like but the good overshadowed them way too much for me to give it any lower.

After rewatching I changed my vote to 7 since I only saw one scene from this season more than once and that's KitN scene. And Oldtown is also something I really liked other than KitN and all of KL's scenes. But the lack of Jorah, Brienne and Hound in such a long ep was a missed opportunity, also I think they should have put a lot of emphasis on Lyanna/Rhaegar relationship this season so when the people see the baby they don't think oh my God Jon is an actual Stark, which I think is what people though, but OH MY GOD JON IS HALF STARK HALF TARGARYEN which is so much more important

I rated it a 9. I wanted to love it enough on the second viewing to give it a 10, but it felt too packed. It was too much of a good thing. Or I dunno, maybe if some scenes had been reorganized it would have been a 10 for me. But I'm explaining why I didn't give it a perfect score, which is unnecessary. The opening montage was so good. The music had a nervous, mournful tone, and it was a different style than what we've heard before, all of which signaled something significant was about to happen. It shares elements of the Rains of Castamere, by the way. You can hear the familiar notes at moments. Seeing Jonathon Price briefly made into a Sparr'o Lantern before the wild fire blew him to shreds was a cool effect. They really played up the love between the Tyrells before making us watch them fail to escape. RIP Margaery. RIP Loras. RIP Mace. RIP, Lancel, you brain-washed idiot. Fuck you, Pycelle. Cersei saved Tommen's body, but she killed his soul. He was a good kid. He tried to do the right thing, but he had the same predicament Jaime had about doing the right thing and way less backbone. Margaery was the first good person he ever knew, and he loved her, and his mom killed her after he betrayed his mom for her. No wonder he jumped out the window. RIP, Tommen, you idiot. Cersei is still killing it. Literally. "I drink because it feels good. I killed my husband because it felt good to be rid of him..." Yeehaw. I don't want to know what Ser Jason Vorhees Clegane did to the septa or will be doing between now and Season 7. When Cersei looked at Tommen's body, there was a moment, almost imperceptible, when she twitched. She wanted to look away. But she forced herself to take it in. And then the only emotion she showed was in her eyes, which teared up, and her mouth, which pulled a little when she said he should be with his grandfather, brother, and sister. Margaery's and Cersei's costumes were out of this world. Jaime didn't like being lumped in with Walder Frey. That gives me hope that he might do the right thing, yet. Whatever that is. Walder never got the respect he wanted. Jaime insulted him the same night Arya murdered him. I feel that this entire sequence should have happened in a different episode. I didn't mind the way it was done, but it did feel rushed to me. And I was bummed that no one witnessed it. Although, I guess that's Arya's MO. It was interesting to be reminded that a lot has happened quickly, and this isn't regular business for this universe. We're catching them at an interesting point in history. The Citadel doesn't even know Mormont was killed! It's also nice that there is a seat of knowledge and structure where someone is keeping the rules. The library made me think of the Library of Alexandria that was burned. Wasn't that globe gyroscope thing in the library the thing we see in the opening credits!?! White ravens = winter is here = Sansa and Jon joking about Ned. I got teary. I fucking hate Littlefinger, but for once, I think he was telling the truth. I think what he said to Sansa under the heart tree was the truest thing he's said. Lyanna Mormont is the best. I can't even believe it. Heed the "cuhul" motherfuckers! R + L = J finally confirmed, but why didn't we hear the name Lyanna whispered for crying out loud? Regardless, the scene was beautiful. It could have ended after this scene. Or after the coronation scene. Or after the "Winter is here" scene. Or after Arya's revenge scene. Or where it ended. This episode had too many climaxes. But I enjoyed all those climaxes. Or something.

10.
I liked every scene. Dany finally left Essos, Jon is now KitN, Cersei is the Mad Queen, Walder Frey is dead, and R+L=J is confirmed.
No WW or Euron was bit annoying, but eh. I missed BwB and Brienne too.
