Meereen being absent is possible but the original plan was definitely to have both, it's been mentioned as far back THR talking about Snowbowl before the season started. So there is only a finite amount of footage shot for the actual battle and it wouldn't take up the full 60 minutes. The only way they could accommodate a change is to move whatever Northern stuff they had from the finale and put it here to replace the original Meereen footage they'd be moving back. And if that's the case, the finale pacing shouldn't really be affected, it's just replacing one storyline (the North) with another (Meereen). I still think we see Meereen. I have no idea how they would be able to stretch this out for a full 60. People don't realize how long that is to be in 1 spot. And you can only fight for so long, even 15 minutes of all-out battle footage is a ridiculous amount of time, it would feel like forever. Yes. Even in Blackwater and The Watchers On The Wall (the other single-location episodes) the actual fighting scenes took, overall, about 10 minutes.

In the books, the Mormonts and Glovers are the main houses Stannis rallied. There are also the mountain clans (a role filled in the show by the Wildlings) Theres not much more for them to put into it. Personally I would of liked for them to rally the deserters from Stannis' march since they have literally no escape from the north and horses can't swim the narrow sea. But maybe they will Pre battle I kind of wish the Northern mountain clans (not to be confused with vale mtn. clans) would have been featured. I wonder if they'll support the wildlings and Jon or no? I remember reading about them in the books... Flints, Riddles, etc. They fought with each other as much as anything but were fiercely loyal to the Starks. Yeah. Not sure if the Northern mountain clans exist in the show universe. Mormont scene feels a bit stupid since they only gave 62 men to Jon/Sansa's cause. We would have had time to visit White Harbor and other smaller northern houses.. They visited 2 and decided to just go with what they got? Cmon Jon, you're smarter than that! For some odd reason I'm not hyping the Snowbowl so much anymore. The lack of support the Starks got from the Northeners is appalling and makes the snowbowl a little "lamer".

Tis' the way of the reddit-gods and their false prophets. If the truth becomes too much of a threat, they use the downvote poison every time.

On the question about Meereen's storyline being in the episode or not, I remember that Javi from L7R said in a podcast, several weeks ago, that the Dothraki cavalry charge we can see in the trailer is from the finale. He has been right about certain things and wrong about others, so who knows.

Why do I feel like that pic of Jon facing the cavalry is familiar?

I assume that the Wildlings take their place in the show. They number close to those who are in the books, plus in the books, far fewer Wildlings accept the offer to settle in the North. This is what I'm guessing at least. It appears they are still making Jon vs the Boltons far more difficult than Stannis vs the Boltons in the books, which this appears to be modeled off of.

Why do I feel like that pic of Jon facing the cavalry is familiar? Aragorn did some similar-looking shit IIRC.

I wonder... I will be fair, because of all the battles on the show so far, nearly all included or were won by a cavalry charge.

Hold your ground! Hold your ground! Sons of the North, my brothers, I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of the Northern Houses fails, when we forsake our bannermen and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of lions and flayed men, when the age of honour comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight!! By all that you hold dear in this good Kingdom, I bid you stand, Men of the North!!!
