This might sound like blasphemy but I hope these don't mean it's a one-location episode. As great as a longer more concentrated battle would be, I don't really want the pacing of the finale to potentially get fucked up as a result. No matter how long the finale is, excluding Meereen from 609 worries me.

No matter how long the finale is, excluding Meereen from 609 worries me. I'm with you - I am pumped for the SNOWBOWL, but I would also love to see the Battle for Meereen. I think it would be a cool parallel to have the battle of "ice" and the battle of "fire" in the same episode. Also, I feel that because episode 10 is a rap-up episode the Battle of Mereen is going to get shorted. It'll be a quick battle, then the Greyjoys show up, then master are made into minced meet and then they all talk and then they go off to Westeros. It's going to be rushed, I know it. |

I agree with both of you that putting even 10 minutes of Meereen siege in 6x09 would alleviate some rushing the finale to wrap up so many loose ends. I know the biggest snowbowl fans are excited by the thought of a full hour of nothing but the war at Winterfell and I'm certainly not going to complain if that's how it goes down, I'm very pumped about it. But I do wonder how they are going to cram so much into the finale if Meereen is left out of 6x09 too. It should be concluded to the point we know to expect Daenerys boarding ships in the finale which wouldn't need more than a few minutes. King's Landing and Riverlands will probably take up the bulk of finale along with post battle results for both Meereen and Winterfell. |

It may be rushed, but since it's Dany it's bound to get a dramatic, badass ending to it which will probably negate any problems with the pacing. Unlike the last finale which had an ridiculously rushed battle followed by an underwhelming ending. So it could be a lot worse. |

Meereen being absent is possible but the original plan was definitely to have both, it's been mentioned as far back THR talking about Snowbowl before the season started. So there is only a finite amount of footage shot for the actual battle and it wouldn't take up the full 60 minutes.
The only way they could accommodate a change is to move whatever Northern stuff they had from the finale and put it here to replace the original Meereen footage they'd be moving back.
And if that's the case, the finale pacing shouldn't really be affected, it's just replacing one storyline (the North) with another (Meereen).
I still think we see Meereen. I have no idea how they would be able to stretch this out for a full 60. People don't realize how long that is to be in 1 spot. And you can only fight for so long, even 15 minutes of all-out battle footage is a ridiculous amount of time, it would feel like forever.

I think that stuff has been moved around. Snowbowl doesn't feel like it has had much of a build up. They went to 2 houses. So maybe some of the build up that should have been in another episode has been put into this episode instead. Also the siege of Meereen has already been split into 2 episodes. Episode 8 and whichever episode it finishes up in. They may have swapped some of the stuff that was meant to be in episode 10 into episode 9.

I remember reading about them in the books... Flints, Riddles, etc. They fought with each other as much as anything but were fiercely loyal to the Starks. |
