Davos has always been one of the most interesting characters in the series because he doesn't really fit into the upper class aristocratic world of the high lords. Despite this, he is one of the most important characters in the books, and has brought together much of Stannis' forces in the past, through the iron bank (in the show), Sallador Saan (in both) and also championed Stannis' cause across the Stormlands. He led Stannis' fleet on the Blackwater, and also helped organize the march on Winterfell.
He is now been set up to become an instrumental piece in the reconstruction of House Stark and the upcoming war with the White Walkers, so I wanna address my favourite fan theory about Davos. Davos is lightbringer.
If Jon is Azor Ahai, which seems more likely, as Dany seems too obvious for George style (just my opinion), then Davos is his lightbringer. Davos has the ability to give Jon his army. He's a great negotiator, a good leader, and most importantly, emphatic. He can appeal to people's sense of reason, and has the intelligence to recognize when a battle can be won, and when it is lost. Anyway, Davos is an essential player in the upcoming war and definitely one of the most interesting factors going forward, so I it thought interesting to discuss.

I had a hilarious mental image of Jon holding flaming Davos and swinging him at White Walkers.
But yeah, this has been one of my favourite theories for a long time. I think Davos will be one of the few characters who are going to survive this whole thing. I'd like if his final chapter in the books is going back to his home where his sons and wife are waiting for him. In the show Matthos was his only son, but it would be great if there was a scene 8x06 where Davos is reunited with his wife.

That, and Davos is one of the few POV characters I can see surviving the series

I was surprised at how quickly they've catapulted Davos to the forefront with Jon and Sansa. It's great and awesome use of an amazing actor who really has the essence of who Davos is down perfectly.
As we just saw in 6x07 both Jon and Sansa have a lot to learn about Westerosi politics. Davos will be hugely important in helping them rebuild once they do manage to get Winterfell back. "Rebuild" being more of a political term than literal since we know building up support and forces for the real war to come is the key. Davos is one of the few respected men that will be able to convince others.

I really hope Davos survives the whole thing...he's my favorite character at the moment and he has the right way to talk to people. Liam is perfect for the role.

I'm looking forward to Littlefinger showing up and meeting Davos. I'm interested to see if Davos can see through Littlefinger's bullshit. I bet he can.

Davos took a bit to grow on me in the books, but he's easily one of my favorites now and Liam plays him perfectly on the show.
I'd love for Davos to meet Littlefinger. They could remix his book story and he could say "Petyr Baelish of House Creeper, I name you a liar!"

This could be the point at which he talks to Sansa and wins her trust by calling Littlefinger out for what he really is and she finally sees it fully too. He's a dangerous little shit and as much as I've enjoyed the chaos he's brought to the story over the years, I'm ready for him to get his paybacks.

I want day dreamer 's line in the show and/or books. That's excellent!

Kinda wishing that Davos would start serving Lady Mormont and put her on the Iron Throne. She's more like Stannis than anyone else he's gonna find.

Davos has always been one of the most interesting characters in the series I love show!Davos, but always found book!Davos super-boring because I only ever viewed him as a window into Stannis (until ~ADWD when he goes his own way). His chapters could have put me to sleep Although I do love the theory that he is some kind of metaphorical Lightbringer for Jon, assuming he is AA.

To be fair he was stuck on Dragonstone for most of the books up until then. There wasn't really much for him to do but talk to Stannis or one of the wierd and angry people in his family, Selyse or Axel ear hair Florent. Next to house Frey, the Florents may well be the least appealing house in the books.
