So this has been a kind of confusing issue for us recently. It's the first year that the show is moving beyond the books, and that puts us in a delicate position as a community that mostly read the books before watching the show. We normally all follow the production very closely so we have a good expectation of how the show will play out. But now that the show is providing new content, I decided to avoid all of the leaks and remain spoiler free, and several other folks did the same, even if we were in the minority. The thing is, we're in the middle of the new season, and eager to discuss the new episodes with the rest of the community, but I'm confused about which threads are spoiler-free. Some threads are marked as [spoilers], so I keep finding myself surprised when posters drop something like "looking forward to the Fire and Blood moment this week!" After avoiding all of the production leaks, a harmless statement like that can give away a lot that I didn't want to know going into the episode. I brought this up in the post-episode discussion for episode 4, and was asked to bring it to this thread, and before I had the chance to start this post I saw a post that said "I wonder if the dragons will have a big scene this season. Maybe in the seige. " What Seige!? This is the type of thing I don't want to see, and it's so easy to use spoiler tags, but it seems like the majority of this forum has indulged in spoilers to some extent. We've got the spoiler-free haven, but there's not much in-depth discussion there, and I'd like to participate, but every week I unwittingly stumble onto something I didn't want to know about until watching that week's episode. I'd like to see some more clarification. Either more people are on board with spoiler tags, or tell us to get the fuck out of those threads. I'm not blaming the mods. I've reported several instances of spoilers I wasn't expecting, the problem is that I can't unsee that information. And I know it's a small handful of posters that avoided spoilers this year, if we're causing more trouble than we're worth, that's fine, but I just would love to see more people to be respectful of our wishes in regards to surprises this year.

As I said confirmed spoilers outside General Leaks should be tagged and if they arent - reported. Every other thread should not have info from production or leaks out in the open.
The example u provided is just speculation, though not a spoiler.

I can report, and I have, but by that point it's too late, if I'm reporting a post, I've all ready had something spoiled for me. It hurts my enjoyment of the show when major developments are ruined for me every week. If there's a way to remind the community to be more considerate, that would be great. If not, I feel discouraged from even trying to participate in the weekly discussion.

I can make announcement when I come home but Davey I think you are taking a risk entering any board that discusses something you haven't seen yet. It is how it is, everywhere not just here. No need to be dramatic wit that line about weekly discussion. People should tag spoilers, the untagged spoilers should be reported and mods should watch over the board to make sure no one gets spoiled. I am sure everyone is doing what they can. You just confused speculation for a spoiler. You have no way of knowing what is speculation and what is a spoiler. But if someone writes 'I cannot wait for....in next episode' then yep, it is wrong, should be tagged and if it isn't it should be reported.
As I said I can make an announcement but I'm not sure what you expect me to do beyond that other than what I'm doing already.

Most people seem to be trying, but I've been spoiled a few times too. People just throw out speculation that they've come up with from looking at spoiler material as though it is established fact or as if it is something that is in the trailers.
It's not just me and Davey avoiding spoilers anymore. We have several people limiting their spoiler intake to varying degrees. Maybe the threads you can spoil away in should be named as such, and the other threads should be renamed to make it clear that you shouldn't spoil without tags.

Since I watch the episode nearly a day later than most of you guys, I still see plenty of spoilers on this board. Even in the confessions thread. Then some avatars spoil some scenes as well. Damn shame. But on another note, is just random speculation, what isn't even based on any facts, considered spoiling? Like in the general speculation thread and the episode preview speculations. Leaks and other confirmed spoilers should be contained to specific threads (General leaks/spoiler thread), you're right in that. But yes, we should clearly mark threads that which contain heavy spoilers and which do not. In addition to Admin's announcement, talking about the episodes in the other areas should be limited. If you absolutely have to talk about the episode there use the spoiler tags.. and warn about the contents of the spoiler. Please report all spoilers so that the mods can take action before other members are spoiled.. and for goodness sake, please think of what you post and where!

Also since @diablotion and myself won't be here much on Mondays I assume - he watches on Mondays evening and I won't venture anywhere risky once Riverlands start, it's gonna be up for @alcasinoroyale, morgantayler and @nictarion to watch over the board. I was the only member of the staff online today for the most of the day so it's really up to members to be careful about spoilers seeing how there will be less supervision here soon.

I posted a bit about this in the announcement Admin made but I'll say it here too. I think episode leaks and the leaks from the extra for 609 should be spoiler tagged and clearly marked as such in all threads except for the general leak thread. Production spoilers are fair game in the general spec threads, as that's how we've been operating in that thread all along. Every where else spoilers should be tagged and should be properly labeled so people are aware of they're getting into. But yeah, I agree with Sati, there's really not much else we can do except respond to reported posts and remind users to be mindful of others. Hopefully everyone will follow whatever guidelines we decide on.

my take on it is- anything that came out of the general speculation volumes or general leaks thread should be spoiler tagged in the episode discussion thread. If you want to talk about what the next episode may contain based on spoiler speculation then use the season 6 spec thread. The post-episode discussion threads should be completely spoiler free. And people should not change avatars until at least 24 hours after it airs in the US. I mean please be considerate of others in different time zones or those who don't have a chance to watch it at the same time.
