Smalljon wasn't that bad, except calling his liege lord a cunt and not kneeling to his overlord. And saying that he would've killed Greatjon. And killing Shaggydog. Oh. "How do you know he's a stark?" Reekon is coming. Rickon's actor looked so much older that I thought it was a fake

A decent episode, but not one I'm going to rewatch many times. It was slow and some parts were a bit boring, a typical early season episode.

Also, it sucks that his week's episode wasn't so strong because tonight I could actually stay up later to chat but there really isn't that much to discuss. Honestly the only really good parts were Jon's bits at the wall and Umber/Bolton/Karstark meeting even though it had a horrible ending. The rest of the episode was really quite mediocre. And the Tower of Joy, I things that was very good and true to the books. With a few changes here and there.

Now y'all know why I changed from an Umber sigil to a Mormont one a few weeks ago. Smalljon wasn't that bad, except calling his liege lord a cunt and not kneeling to his overlord. And saying that he would've killed Greatjon. And killing Shaggydog. Oh. Smalljon gets points from me for calling Roose a cunt. Roose did swear allegiance to his King and then betrayed and killed him. Liked that he refused to bow before Ramsey though. However he negates that with: turning over Osha, Rickon, killing Shaggydog, saying he would have killed his father makes me say he's not better than Roose. So it takes one to know one, should have been Ramsey's response. The crack at Karstark was a good one though. Oddly enough, Smalljon is superdead in the books. But in all seriousness, besides of the Tower of Joy (how badass was Arthur Dayne?) that scene with Smalljon and Ramsey was probably the best acted scene of the whole night. My best friend said texted me and said, I need a post death Jon Snow to be less emo not more. I liked how Alistar Thorne was ready to die. Well done by Owen Teale. Liam Cunningham continues his acting winning streak with his pep talk to Jon. I liked that Kevan and Olenna put the Lannister twins in their place. Does anyone remember that the real reason why the Faith has a stronghold there is because Cersei sicced them on Margarey and Loras in the first place????

Jon's parts with Davos had me in tears ... but that was really the only part that moved me more than terror when they put Shaggy's head on the table. Tower of Joy scene was beautiful and the fight was great choreography but there was no payoff at the end and I think that may have been a mistake, but I will withhold judgement until we see how they finish it.

A lot of scenes seemed to go on way too long, like the one with Varys and the one with Tommen and the Sparrow. Even the council scene was a little long. But Max Von Raven just had to put his hand on Bran's shoulder before he went in the tower, didn't he? I can't believe Howland Reed.

I was glad to see Braavos finally get good btw. It really dragged in 601 and 602 but the training montage here was back to s5-Braavos quality.

Sorry guys, but I liked the Smalljon Sure it might be "character assassination" of his book counterpart, but I think his reasoning for joining the Boltons was pretty well explained and easily acceptable. Interesting and entertaining fella, though, he reminded me of Tormund with a bit of Locke

Oh SHIT how could I forget that end scene with the training? Fuck, sorry Arya! That was well done. Ok so I think there were three parts I liked a lot, including Arya's story finally starting to get good again. I think I'll like this one more on a re-watch. I'm still confused about some parts including wtf is Varys up to.

It felt like a scene just to have Tyrion in the episode. How about Howland Reed? I guess that's why Ned left that part of the story out. We were never filled in the books as to how Howland Reed saved Ned's life.

Kit's acting has really stepped up. I was impressed with how hurt he looked. It broke my heart. And then the changing expressions on his face at the end after the execution were really well acted. I also liked the way he delivered that final line.

I could rant on and on about that awful Mereen scene. But I'm going to be the better smugling for once and ignore it. I did think that it was a nice twist on the end of the ToJ scene. I mean, they couldn't really do the net and spear now could they? And it was never really said how Dayne died IIRC

"My father was poisoned by our enemies" "I don't blame you, your father was a cunt. I would've killed my father if he wasn't dead already"

Seeing the Sword of the Morning stabbed in the back was pretty awful.

Why did Davos shush Melisandre from the room? He didn't say anything she should not have heard.

So far everything about the northern storyline has been fantastic this year. I'm including Bran in that too. The rest is struggling to live up to it. Until this episode, I've felt the Arya scene's were getting dull. This was a good one.
I noticed that there are 4 people on Arya's list although one name wasn't mentioned, just insinuated.
It didn't flow as well as last weeks episode, but it would be hard to match last week in terms of flowing beautifully. A lot of scenes were set up scenes, which is the unfortunate nature of the show.
I enjoyed ToJ. Dany was not good, Tyrion only worked when Varys turned up. Kings Landing was a mixed bag. Pycelle farting was an inspired choice. My favourite Kings Landing moment. I wont complain about Sam and Gilly as it was a necessary scene. At least little Sam is more believable age wise. That kid could be about 2. He looked a little older than my nephew who is 2 in July.
I'm going to need a re-watch, I've got a feeling I've missed loads.

At least it was brief, and she's been written out of it all. Hallelujah!
