For me it's not any one of those coincidences but the preponderance of them, and the fact that they're all happening to Brienne, who was conveniently taken out of her book arc and set off on this plot-fixing arc. I didn't mind when she ran into Hot Pie and then the Hound and Arya. I thought it stretched believability when they crossed paths with Sansa's carriage and then ran into them, but I went with it. It definitely stretched believability when she then found Stannis, but I kind of was okay with the way it went down at first...it bothered me more over time as I began to think about how convenient that was. And now, boom, she's zeroed in on Sansa and Theon. I'll admit, I thought LSH fans were just belly-aching about book changes at first. Then I thought the same of Stannis fans. But since it keeps happening, I have come around to seeing that they really have been lazy in their use of Brienne. And I wish they would stop, because she is TEH AWESOME. Edit: It should be noted that I have no problem with people "bellyaching" about their favorite characters' stories getting altered (or cut) in ways they don't like. You're "allowed", and I'll never argue with you about that. So, please don't think I dismiss your thoughts on that, LSH and Stannis fans. My personal point of view is that I'm fine with any book change that makes a great story. Even if they cut someone beloved to me. I get that not everyone can or will feel that way. Well never fear. Her story should be somewhat back on track. Including LSH.

I don't think the fact Brienne finding Sansa in the woods was that bad, she just followed the Bolton soldiers.
The Stannis one bugs me, the LF + Sansa and Hound + Arya too, but still, this one made some semblance of sense. I don't get how she knew Sansa had escaped the Castle, but still, too many questions.
My main fault is that it defeats the object of having Brienne choose between revenge and duty last series. It made the whole thing seem pointless.

GRRM has used deus ex machina in the novels too (not exactly where D&D have though) - it just feels more obvious onscreen is the problem. Novels and plays can get away with it because it's an expected device in "storytelling" which tends to be more prose-ish and dramatized. Television series have evolved to where we expect them to be more realistic and plausible. They have used Brienne as the deus ex machina and the failed deus ex machina (candle watcher) a bit too often though, I agree. There's just no one else in the changed Winterfell arc that could have taken that role though, really. Yeah I suppose they could have had newly cast Northerners show up to rescue her but it would not have had the same huge impact as Brienne and her 'oaths' so I understand why they've been leading up to that this whole time with her previous failures. It felt more like "Finally, something goes right, damn!" - at least that was the look on Brienne's face!

While it was pretty much evident that it was going to happen, IMO Brienne finding/saving Sansa took away the whole scene of her abandoning her oaths to revenge Renly.

One little thing that made me chuckle was Ramsay's hounds. Theon - We have to keep moving, I've seen those hounds, what they can do to people... Yes, all of that sniffing was truly terrifying (This isn't intended as a criticism btw because I know they wanted Sansa alive so obviously couldn't release them properly. Although why Theon wasn't just cut down I don't know

So is it just 15 good men now? Afraid so Ser Fifteen of House Goodmen is still worth 15 men in battle.

Although why Theon wasn't just cut down I don't know why just cut theon down and deprive ramsay of getting to torture him again? i'm sure rams wanted them both alive, a quick death would be far too easy and merciful a punishment for reek's treachery.

Only those true to the lady have hope in the darkest of times (which is just as it's possible D&D fucks me over and finally this time because it's now or never for her to arrive )

IF Lady Stoneheart shows up this season, I think every single one of us who has been saying "she's cut for good, get over it" should have to use a LSH avatar for the entire remainder of season 6 at that point to pay tribute. Myself included.
