I'm unable to hate Ned Stark but Davos is the closest guy to being Ned Stark that the show has. And he's a guy that really does not have much power but knows how to use his wits and wisdom in the right way and at the right time.
He's probably my favorite thing about the show right now.

And he's a guy that really does not have much power but knows how to use his wits and wisdom in the right way and at the right time. He's probably my favorite thing about the show right now. He's Ned Stark in loyalty and honor but without the blind bits Ned suffered from in my opinion. Davos is more worldly, he's seen shit and he comes from the bottom so he knows the true nature of people at both ends of it - noble and commoners. He's better suited to leadership - he's "street smart" and that's what we're going to need more than nobility now. |

So what did you all think of Davos in episode 6x01? We've all hyped ourselves for how awesome he's going to be this season - and he delivered right away! I was so happy he was the one to discover Jon's corpse first for the impact and his words to Edd and the others in the room were perfect. My favorite was when he was stalling Thorne at the door and said he'd like some mutton too, not being a very good hunter, he would need food to take when he leaves... that was hilarious. Thorne was like "wat?"  |

I was worried the beginning of this season might feel thin, directionless with Jon and Stannis dead and Dany captured, but it doesn't because Davos is a man we can watch and trust. That was my favorite scene. One of the things I like about Liam's performance in general is his ability to say anything without using words. The scene where he finds Jon's body I thought was a good scene for him too. |

Davos has a couple other things Ned lacked, besides probably being smarter than Ned. Humility and humor, which together give him the ability to not take himself too seriously. And while I do think Davos is smarter than Ned was, I think Ned was plenty smart. I think his downfall was that he was too stubborn in his definition of honor to ever act in a way that might be seen as dishonorable, up to the point of never even assuming others would act dishonorably. It was kind of like, if you screw me, that's on you. My soul is clean. Of course, that doesn't help his family. |

His scenes were mostly in the dark outside in the courtyard and inside the room they took Jon to so maybe it was a matter of lighting that makes all the images and gifs bad for Davos in ep01? If anyone in our group is good at making them ( Admin!) maybe we can get some nice Davos gifs from 6x01.  |
