After all the hype we've gotten from Liam Cunningham in the pre-season ramp up I think it's fair to say our beloved Ser Davos the Onion Knight is going to play a big role in much of Season 6. This is awesome because Ser Davos is awesome and Liam Cunningham is awesome! And we need a new hero! Here is an imgur album I just created during my Season 5 "Foreshadowing" Re-watch from 5x03, where Jon Snow has just refused the offer of legitimization from Stannis. Davos stays behind and gives Jon Snow some words to seriously consider. I think this was heavy foreshadowing to how much Davos is going to be by Jon Snow's side from here on out. House Onion all the way!
Yep, Davos is the closest thing this tale has to a hero imo. Liam Cunningham plays him so well - you can see both Davos' limitations and his great humanity. I'm convinced he has a role to play in rebuilding Westeros.
And season 6 could be his season.

It was about time to have a thread dedicated to our Onion Knight! Probably the most honest and decent man of this story. Generous, sincere and loyal (and very importantly, without falling into blind loyalty). Willing to show compassion and heroism equally. Great character, an improvement over his book counterpart, IMHO, and wonderfully played by Liam Cunningham.

Their "Hand" to guide them through the 'long night' ahead and triumph over the Others.

Ser Davos Seaworth is probably my favorite character on the show at the moment! Liam Cunningham has transferred this loved character from the books to the show brilliantly!

Count me in. I love Ser Davos. If everyone had a Ser Davos in their lives, this world would be a far better place to live in.

Top 5 for me on book and show
"The man was smirking as he told the tale. Davos wanted to peel his lips off with a knife. “Ser, may I have your name?" “Ser Jared, of House Frey.” “Jared of House Frey, I name you liar.”"

Just curious - how do you all see it going down between Davos, Melisandre and Jon? Do you think Ser Davos is going to oppose Mel the same as he did with Stannis? What do you think he'll do when he finds out what really happened to Shireen (assuming he does find out) ...
If Mel is really the one to resurrect Jon, I'm wondering what Davos will say about it. He knows how powerful she is, he was there when she birthed the shadow-baby. I'm really curious what the dynamics are going to be like now once Jon's back.

I have to comment and run...but I've been wondering the same. I cannot see if Davos finds out the truth about Shireen that he'd let Melisandre live. However, if she does happen to be the one to resurrect Jon, him seeing her powers in action (again) might have him reluctantly working with her. It could turn that they both have to try to get along to help Jon out. I am kind of thinking Jon is resurrected by some other magic, not Melisandre. I could be very wrong in my thinking though. I would also be shocked if the show never has Davos find out the truth about Shireen.

I would also be shocked if the show never has Davos find out the truth about Shireen. I agree it would be a really weird missed opportunity to not have that horrible event exposed somehow or actually mean something. Mel's failure with Stannis has to have significance and meaning. Shireen's death has to have consequences (good or bad) or they wouldn't have done it on the show because we know that didn't happen in the book (yet). I hope that consequence is with Ser Davos or the future between Jon, Davos and Mel. Ser Davos is a wise and fair man but I don't know how he would excuse burning Shireen unless there was something really significant about it or the future with Jon that keeps him steady and willing to work with Melisandre for the sake of defeating the White Walkers. As you said, he may reluctantly have to work with her in order to support Jon's cause.
