i really hope they delve deeper. I mean Randyll isn't just an asshole, he was evil towards Sam. He even hinted to Sam that he was going to kill him in the woods if he didn't go to the Wall. I could definitely see Randyll not believing that Sam killed a White Walker and then making some comment about Gilly and her baby.

He did more than hint, it was a pretty clear threat. Nothing would have pleased him more than hunting his own son like an animal. IA that show viewers probably need to be reminded of that, but there are plenty of ways to do that.

Well, they're probably not going to re-introduce all the old plot elements right off the bat.

Don't know if Sam will even bring up the white walkers. No one in the south of the neck seems to believe in them, he'll just be ridiculed. I think the fact that Gilly's baby is not even his, is going to be a huge thing, maybe Gilly will find out she's pregnant this season with Sam's baby and that way the Tarly's will be more inclined to look after her. i really hope they delve deeper. I honestly think Randyll will be surprised to see Sam alive. He sent him to the Wall with the full intention of him getting beaten up and killed.

True and it depends which storylines appear in the premiere. The Wall, King's Landing, Meereen, Dothraki Sea, and Winterfell are definite. Braavos, Iron Islands, Bran and Bloodraven, The Reach, and Dorne are the ones that could be introduced in either 601 or 602.

There's no reason he can't claim the baby as his own, as he intends to in the books. Randyll will probably be in shock that Sam is still alive and that any woman would want to sleep with him. The ironborn, Sam/Gilly, and the damn Dornish can be eased into, and Arya's only had the season premiere in the pilot and 4.01, but with Bran I think they'd want to establish that he's back and that his scenes are gonna be a lot cooler now.

Still don't think Randyll is going to want it in his house. He doesn't want anything to do with Sam.

I'm assuming Sam's mother and sister will help Gilly while Sam tries to convince his father to give him heartsbane.

Thats absolutely terrifying, no way randyll would just give Sam his house's ancestral sword.

Now that would be a hard sell for someone who hates Sam, has no reason to believe in the WW, and no reason to believe Sam about Valryian steel killing them.

I'm not saying he would just give it to him right away, but they're gonna need it at some point to fight the WW.

Randyll would probably threaten to use Heartsbane to slice up Sam if he even mentioned it.

Oh I'm sure Sam is going to have a hard time even being in his father's presence. He might almost be kicked out, but I have a feeling Sam will eventually show some bravery like he did when he spoke for Jon at the LC election. Though yeah it's more likely that Randyll doesn't listen to anything Sam tells him and then Sam goes to the citadel soon after he leaves Gilly with his family.

I do think there is a chance he ends up with the sword, because his house, out of all the minor houses has one, i don't think that is a coincidence.

In the books the Tarleys send an army to Kings Landing during Margery's imprisonment. We aren't getting any of that, correct? Just Sam and Gilly visiting before Sam intents to continue on to Oldtown?

Randyll could get involved in the KL plot or be defending the Reach from Euron. I don't think we really know, do we?

Nope we don't know, but in the casting calls: "Aged 50’s to 60’s, he’s one of the greatest soldiers in Westeros- a humorless martinet, severe and intimidating. He demands martial discipline in the field and in his home. It’s described as “ a very good part” for next year and that he’s “centrally involved” in a protagonist’s storyline." I would think that means more than a few episodes and scenes at Horn Hill.

After that Randyll could either go to King's Landing, or prepare Oldtown for Euron's future raid. I think the Oldtown battle will be left for Season 7 though, unless it happens before Snowbowl in episode 8.

It's also possible that Euron's raid on Oldtown happens in 6x10 and is left as a cliffhanger.
