Season 6 General Speculation v9

I remember that about a year ago an article came out where GRRM was asked about not having any gay male sex scenes in the books. He said something to the effect of "If it happens naturally, I will write it in, but I wouldn't just insert such a scene just because." I remember Sue basically called that bullshit. If he wanted one in, he would put it in. I have to agree with that.

Continuing my thoughts on the Yara thing, another argument I've read is that of course D&D would make Yara gay, since she is a bit butch. Problem with that line of thinking is that would mean Brienne should be a super lesbian, right? We've also had Ygritte, Karsi, and Arya doing a bunch of stuff that is more often ascribed to men. Yet they are all straight as far as we've seen. Ellaria is the only one I can think of that was interested in women (and men). Out of all of these females characters and we only have two who are interested in women and possibly only one who in interested only in women? Seems fine to me.

Moreover, I have seen lesbians online express excitement at having Yara be gay. Who am I to say that they shouldn't have representation in the show just because of what's in the books? I can understand being concerned on how the showrunners will treat the issue, but immediately jumping to a negative reaction? I am just glad that what I've seen is nothing compared to the fandom's initial response to Pedro's casting.
