Favorites: House Stark for life here. It was my caring for Ned and his family that got me so involved into the books, so I will always be rooting for the Starks. They are good, honorable and I find them all interesting. Especially the surviving ones, what will they turn out to be in the end? Will they remember their father's lessons? Or has events and Westeros made them hard? I include Jon as a Stark. House Tully-I really like the sass in the folks of that house. Hoster Tully calling Walder Frey "the late Walder Frey", Edmure sassing the heck out of Jaime in book 4, the Blackfish...any house that has the Blackfish gets my vote. And of course, Catelyn. I love Catelyn. House Manderly-Frey pies. Hopefully they'll make some Bolton ones too.
Least Favorite: Bolton-there is just nothing good to say about Ramsey or Roose. Nothing at all. Sorry Nezzer. I tried to come up with something but I have nothing. What Roose did at the RW not only to his King but also his fellow Northerners makes him nothing but a traitor and he deserves what ever is coming to him. Ramsey is a sadist. I don't even know what else to say. Frey-Ugh. God, I hate Walder Frey and his family. As Davos said, they are cursed. Greyjoy-I like Theon. I didn't like Theon in book 2 but GRRM did such a good job with his POV in book 5 that I felt like Theon paid in spades for his betrayal of the Starks. The rest of the Greyjoys just don't interest me at all.
Ones I'm on the fence about: Lannister: Tywin is the best villain GRRM wrote I think. I hated to see him go but at the same time, I wanted him to die. I think Jaime and Cersei have some of the most interesting chapters in the books even though I don't root for them, I like their POVs. Tyrion is a fascinating character, even if I did not like his book 5 storyline. Targaryen- Dany doesn't interest me. I'd actually rather learn more about the previous generation of her family,

While I agree Boltons are horrible people I think George really wrote them brilliantly, Roose is especially fascinating

Boltons are.. controversial. Excessively cruel and heartless. Some think of them as villains. Treasonous sadists who are also cool at the same time. Roose has that special something in him, that's why I don't hate him. Ramsay though..

I'd think everyone sees them as villains... I would hope everyone sees them as villains. I'm sure Nezzan sees them as normal and honest people who are just trying to make the best out of their circumstances .

"A naked man has few, a flayed man none" It's an old saying from a time when frightening your enemies was one of the only ways to ensure your family's survival. It's not like Roose and Ramsay roam around the North flaying everyone they meet just for fun, it's just their preferred method of execution, like fire is for Stannis. Also, don't forget about the time Roose saved the North from the irresponsible reign of Robb Stark. Sure he killed a few thousand people at the Red Wedding, but that ended up saving hundreds of thousands.

House TagaryenMagic, dragons, fire and blood. A minor Valyrian house who survived the Doom of Valyria and went on to become one of the great houses of Westeros. Lead by prophetic dreams they fleeted to Dragonstone where they lived in relative quite. Aegon the Conqueror helped the free cities fight Volantis and then went on to conqueror and unite Westeros. Most of their kings were great or average, with a few not so great and terrible kings in between. Great history, great family. Love them! I should add my other favorite houses: House Stark House Dayne House Tully House Mormont

It's slow and horrible and used mainly for torture purposes. Ramsay does kill random people and flays people for fun. Roose is more smarter than this. Saving the smallfolk was surely Roose's motivation for the Red Wedding

I'm sure the old kings of Winter were plenty nasty to their enemies. There's no way the Starks held half a continent for 8k years by being sweethearts to everyone.

The Targaryens really only had a few truly mad members, Maegor, Rhaegel, Aerion, and Aerys II. I think it's quite possible the Starks had 3 or 4 nutters in 8000 years.
