The long wait between books is another reason for so many crazy theories and speculations. People get bored waiting years and try to over analyze every little detail, searching for answers or another conspiracy theory. I seriously doubt GRRRM will ever finish the books, so sadly I think we may never get answers for so many questions about the series... My life would be pretty sad without the TV show. Now, at least I can rest assured knowing that I will have an ending for this story that I love so much. I was in denial for a long time, but I think the show will be the only ending we will get. Sucks, but it is what it is. I'm with you. I'm actually getting cautiously hype about season six now since I dont care about the show spoiling whatever future writings we may get lol

Nice to see another Kurosawa fan here! He is one of my favorite directors of all time. "The Seven Samurai" is probably the best action movie I have ever seen. And "Throne of Blood" the best film adaptation of a Shakespeare play ever.

I'm glad so many mentioned Sandor/Sansa hooking up as a theory they hate, because ewwwwwwwwwww And yeah, Tyrion isn't riding a dragon, I'm sorry. I'll eat crow if I need to, but I'm not on board with that one either. Agreed with Sandor/Sands hook-up. I understand with Sandor being part of Sansa's sexual awaking as fantasy. I do not get why it should become real. Sansa is 13/14 and Sandor is mid-20s. This fact seem to not matter for SanSans when they will find the idea as appalling otherwise.

I grew up loving westerns (still do) and it's interesting how much he influenced that genre. Like The Magnificent Seven being a remake of Seven Samurai, and Fistful of Dollars being a remake of Yojimbo (Kurosawa even sued Leone over that one). I still need to see Throne of Blood. @daveyjoe is a big Kurosawa fan as well btw.

And when people ask me if they should read ASoIaF, I always get into a long drawn-out explanation of the pros and cons of such an endeavor.

I think it's so obvious that Tyrion is going to train and ride a dragon, it blows my mind that others don't see it. Aside from all his dragon dreams and obsession and all the reading he has done on dragons, we know that he devised a special saddle for horses for himself and Bran. FORESHADOWING. He's a very small man who is gonna cast a very large shadow (from the top of a giant dragon!!!) FORESHADOWING And since I adore all you guys who hate the theory, I will not be able to contain my gloating.

I only starting reading after season 1 came out. I read the first 4 books, and had a brief wait until ADwD. As bad as now going on what 5 or 6 years waiting for a new book, I can't imagine having had started this series when it first came out in the 90's. It really is ridiculous at this point.

Tyrion will ride Viserion. It is known. Yep! My predictions: Dany has already ridden Drogon, via intuitive bond. Tyrion will ride Viserion via smarts...and he'll probably help Dany round out her intuition. Jon will ride Rhaegal, his daddy's namesake, via force.

I've said this a lot, but since I only get a few chances to complain...I first read one of the books in 2001...I think? Early on. I've waited a long long long long long time. I gave up on getting the story finished by George by Season 2 of the show being made. It was clear he'd never keep up with their pace, and he hasn't. Not even a little. Just try saying that at the other forum three years ago when I did...

GRRM himself has a drawn picture of Sandor and Sansa as Beauty in the Beast in his home. Just sayin' Jon riding Drogon must be the no. 1 theory I hate the most. It's such wish fulfillment for having the male hero get all the cool toys.

I'm actually getting cautiously hype about season six now since I dont care about the show spoiling whatever future writings we may get lol I'm more than okay getting the ending from the TV series. Like Nic I started reading the series after the first season and the wait has already been too long. I need resolution, some book lovers don't see it this way but I think the author has had more than sufficient time to end the series and it seem he's been meandering for 20 years.

Yup, pretty much this. No way in hell should a professional writer take more than 3-4 years to write a damn book (no matter how massive it is). I often hear the argument "I don't want GRRM to rush the final books". Writing a book in under 5 years is not rushing it.

How is he, as a dwarf, literally going to be able to hold on to this dragon?

How is he, as a dwarf, literally going to be able to hold on to this dragon? Well, fashioning special saddles for stuff has literally been a plot point in his story. So I don't think it's that unreasonable of an assumption.

Somehow I don't think dragons could be as cool with it.
