Only Cat. I went to see In the Heart of the Sea at the cinema a while back and Michelle popped up, looking very Catelyn-like due to the costuming. Instantly boosted my opinion of the movie, ha! and whoever mentioned JQC, eh gads, that woman is bad for my blood pressure. It was pointless to ever try and debate with her because she stubbornly ignored any points you made, and pointing out hypocrisy in her arguments was always me with "Cam we stick to the topic of the OP please!" Or "Oh, so you are stalking me now?" Thankfully those days are behind me

I feel like I defend Catelyn, and nearly all of the Starks the most. Also Brienne and Stannis to show only fans.
You have no idea how many times I've gotten into it about Stannis with show fans. lol

Catelyn's my favourite character in the books and show but I don't feel the need to defend her really. Because I don't think she was justified in everything she did and I don't really give a shit whether she was or not. She's just his best-written character. Which is all I wanted from her. She doesn't have to be good or in the right imo. The same goes for Jaime and Theon and Varys and Roose, my other favourites. Though I guess I do defend Melisandre a fair amount.

Arya and Dany more so than anyone else. Bran too sometimes.
And while I don't defend her with anything else, I do defend Cersei in regards to how Robert treated her and the Walk of Shame.

Basically, all of the female characters at one time or another. All were attacked so frequently and unfairly in the early years of the fandom. Now I feel the need to defend Starks (no, they're not simps), show Lannisters ( no, they aren't white-washed...they're just more realistic than in the books), and Dany (no, she's not evil...she's just doing this all on intuition and dreams...girl deserves a break!) Shut it, Roosey. You're right that Tyrion is much darker in the books, but I think that serves the story, and he's still complex. He's supposed to be the character we identify the most with, and it's harder to watch someone do bad shit than to read about it. Nice new avatar, by the way.

I don't think he's supposed to be the character we identify most with. At least not in the books. I like show Tyrion too a great deal, but the book version is better thanks to him being darker. Tyrion is arguably the main character in the show, and has a huge following. D&D like him a lot. They removed his monstrous qualities in favour of the show. Books: Tyrion wants to kill Jaime, Jaime is conflicted Show: Jaime wants to kill Tyrion, Tyrion loves Jaime There's clearly going to be a confrontation of some sort between the Lannister brothers. The roles are just reversed.

I mean she is bat shit and her "logical" conclusions where just so illogical that it wasn't worth having a discussion with her. But that's in the past now.

Jon's Queen Consort, a poster at w.org who is obsessed with Jon and hates Catelyn and Dany almost irrationally. I'm not exaggerating.

Let's face it, a lot of people on that forum were completely irrational. But I like posting here because I am free from that group of crazy people, and I also don't like talking about people behind their backs, so it's probably healthier if we all just move on from that section of the fandom? Also Nictarion's avatar is destroying me right now.

Is Mithras still up to his ways over there? He was almost as bad. I'm not sure, I've also placed him in my ignore list. He was horrible as well along with Fire Eater, both of which I got in huge arguments with. In fact the only warning I've received was from an argument I had with Mithras/Antz/Lamprey or whatever the hell his calling himself now. I don't follow the General Forum very often maybe once or twice a week I have a peek but most of the topics are so blah that I don't stick around.

DJ is right we shouldn't talk about people who can't defend themselves, but the Ant thread was a classic. Those were fun days back then. There was a lot of arguing but at least it was entertaining. I wonder if the veterans will return when the next book comes out.

I'm a massive Jon fan. But oh my god do people take it too far. I mean, come on Jon must be all three heads? He is going to ride three dragons? Where most pre ASOIAF Targaryens only had one dragon, and that was enough? JQC didn't say this, but I've read some theories that Jon and Dany have a child (male, of course) and Daenerys dies during childbirth. Or that Dany is Jon's Nissa Nissa. What bugs me is when people bend, twist other character's arcs for Jon. Arya? Has a sad death that makes Jon sad. Daenerys? Marries him. Melisandre? Sacrifices herself to bring him back. Bran? All of his visions and knowledge will be all about Jon. Stoneheart's final moments? Remorse about Jon. It's why I can't stand the Northern Conspiracy because it twists everything a shitload of characters say... about Jon. ASOIAF doesn't revolve around Jon. Here is a quote by GRRM to keep in mind about the meaning of the title of the series Ice and Fire is about everyone and everything, not just Jon.

No "theory" annoys me more than the Jon will ride Drogon BS.
Drogon is Dany's dragon!!! There are 2 other perfectly good dragons in the story, but Jon needs the only one already bonded to someone else just because he happens to be the biggest? Fuck off.
