I couldn't find a thread on this subject, and because we are all bored awaiting for the trailer that was promised, why the hell not?
Here are my top 10 scenes in the show so far:
1- The Birth of Dragons ("Blood of My Blood..."). 2- The Red Wedding ("The Lannisters send their regards"). 3- The Sack of Astapor ("Dracarys!"). 4- Brienne and Jaime in the bathtub ("Jaime. My Name is Jaime"). 5- Ned's Execution ("Ser Ilyn... Bring Me His Head!"). 6- Jon and The Night's King Staredown (No words. Just the waves, the chilling wind and the silence...). 7- Oberyn and Tyrion in the Black Cells ("I will be your champion"). 8- Theon executing Rodrik Casell ("Gods help you, Theon Greyjoy. Now you are truly lost"). 9- The Hound wants some chicken ("I understand that if any more words come pouring out your cunt mouth, I'm gonna have to eat every fucking chicken in this room"). 10- The Wildfire destroying Stannis' Fleet ("BOOOOOOM!!!").

Good list, but this is a particularly nice choice. Definitely one of my favorite scenes from season 2. "I'm off to see your father" fucking gutted me.

I once wrote this but it only reaches to 4x07 cinematiccorner.blogspot.com/2014/05/favorite-game-of-thrones-scenes-1x01.htmlI'd add Stannis/Shireen sweet scene/hug, Oberyn vs Mountain and Hardhome's ending if I made the list now

This scene upset me the most of all the deaths except the Red Wedding. I think it's because of that line and because of Bran's reaction "you said no harm would come..." Also, botched beheadings seem particularly cruel to me.

1. The opening scene in the pilot episode. Chilling, beautifully shot, eerie music... establishes very well that Game Of Thrones will sometimes be a horror story
2. Arya's lesson with Syrio. Just a great scene, you can see Arya is having fun. I loved Ned checking on his daughter, and Syrio has great quotes here.
3. Daenerys conquering Astapor. 'A dragon is not a slave'
4. Purple Wedding. Because hell yeah Joffrey's dead!!!!
5. The ending of Oathkeeper- the babies eyes turning whitewalker blue. Chilling
6. Tyrion's 'confession'. Not only is he professing his innocence, but expressing the disgusting treatment he has received
7. Oberyn tells Tyrion the story about Casterly Rock.
8. Hardhome (Beyond The Wall), all of it.

1) Barristan's dismissal, it was one of my favorite scenes in the book, and Ian McelHinney totally nailed it. It was so satisfying to finally see somebody stand up to Joffrey. It's a shame that Barristan was kind of wasted for the remainder of the series.
2) Oberyn vs. The Mountain, this was my favorite scene in the books and it worked for me all because of Pedro Pascal's acting. When I edited my CLEGANEBOWL video I was going over this footage a lot and it increased my appreciation for the choreography of the fight, even if I might have preferred a more deliberately paced fight like the books. But the important part for me was Oberyn's passion as he tries to get a confession from Gregor.
3) The Red Wedding which somehow felt even more brutal than the books. I actually kind of liked how it was more of a slaughter in the show, and when I say like I mean found dreadful, because I finished my roommate's bottle of tequila just to get through the episode. Simply heartbreaking, I was a mess by the time they showed Grey Wind whimpering.
4) Stannis' moment of doubt after he loses the Battle of the Blackwater. He is racked with guilt for killing his brother and takes it out on Melisandre, who is visibly afraid of him. He is conflicted about his position and doubtful of Mel's 'fire god.' This leads to the awesome moment where she has him peer into the fire and I wonder if he's afraid of what he sees.
5) The Hound with Sansa during the Blackwater. Sansa clutching the doll Ned gave her, Sandor's fear. "You won't hurt me."
6) Hardhome. It's sequences like this that are so intense, visceral and exciting that allow GOT to transcend the medium and enter uncharted territory. I never thought a director I'd never heard of would give Neil Marshall a run for his money.

Every single scene with Shireen and Davos. Those two could carry their own show.

Trying to make a list for this has made me realise how much mileage the show gets out of beheadings as great character moments over and above shock factor. I have 2 on mine for sure, another runs it close. Can think of two more great ones as well.
Edit: And if you make that any execution there's even more.
